What crazyness do you get into when your not riding?

Here's how we roll in Georgia when we arent riding motorcycles...

Link to original page on YouTube.

We've been creating these massive slip n slides for 4 years now. On average every summer over 200 of our friends and family come and ride.

The slide is constructed of vinyl RV roofing material, and is over 300ft long and 25ft wide. Water is circulated with a 13hp pumping station (used by fire departments) running on gasoline. It pumps around 350 gallons per minute down the slide via two firehoses and a custom built PVC nozzle system. It requires no soap or lubrication...just water. At the bottom is a 40ft x 40ft 4ft deep pool.
Each year it gets bigger...we started with 60ft and moved up to this. It usually takes about 3 weeks with a bobcat to get it all set up and graded.
Under the vinyl slide is carpet to provide a soft underlayer.

We've clocked people at over 30mph going down, and its not uncommon for racers to go airborne at the end.

that is so "cool" pun intended. Haha
Lately I have gotten into the water. A friend gave me a sail boat. So I go out when I can .Just to get away from motors and gasoline. otherwise I mountain bike and work on the garden.

interesting...My brother and I have been dreaming of doing this at our Lake house, which sits on the side of a ridge. Problems:

We don't want to tear up the yard. As a result of that decision, we would need some bumpers of some sort that could resist a 200lb person running into them.

There are 2 possible paths.
-path 1 could go off a 1 foot ledge into 1 1/2 foot shallow water. A ramp at the end of this could launch people out a few more feet where it is deeper.

-path 2 could go down an unused boat launch which is about 12 feet wide. This is the optimal path since it could theoretically be 150 feet long with a bit steeper incline than the shown in the video.

I think materials are the major problem. What is the black stuff you are using for support and walkways? is it under the vinyl?

We used to do something like this in college down a long slope using the large cafeteria trays sliding down in the snow. Hopefully you'd go into the snow bank built up on the bottom of the hill and not into the trees.

Hey Bryan. Is that in WR somewhere? If so, can you PM me the location? My family is in WR, so hubby and I are there quite often. It looks like a lot of fun!

Mountain biking and street riding, weight lifting, gardening, and lots of grilling out with hubby and a beer!

Bike's still down. I replaced the ignition and signal generator and still no spark. It's been almost 2 months since I've ridden.

I've been post whoring so much.....and at work I'm actually doing work. My god what's happening to me?

The way it is constructed is as follows.

First a bobcat moves dirt up into a hill. This serves as the launch ramp.
Then the bobcat creates two berms on each side of the slide to give a raised edge to make sure water and people stay on the slide.

A grader is then used to smooth out the path, and make it level and even.

Then used carpet is layed down for the entire path. This serves two purposes. 1. It creates a soft cushion layer under the slide so that rocks, pebbles, etc dont create a hazard.
2. It protects the slide material from the same things.

Then on top of the carpet, we lay down 300 ft of RV roofing vinyl. Its 3mm thick vinyl that feels much like a sheet of rubber. The sheets are glued together with rubber/vinyl cement. Then gorilla tape is layed over all the seams to make them smooth. We use a propane torch to gently heat the tape and ensure good adhesion.

The rv material is pretty grippy when dry, but is slick when wet. The black that you see is probably the reverse side of the rv roofing material where it has folded over from people disturbing it.

The pool at the bottom is just a big waterproof tarp.

The slide is located in Ft Valley, GA. It is not open to the public due to liability concerns. Ally, if you are interested in visiting, perhaps we can work something out.

He's right. I remember using the pool walls from a couple above-ground swimming pools to make a huge slip'n'slide when I was a kid in Newnan, GA.
