Hi Matthew welcome to Ninjette!

As long as you didn't try to start it in hydrolocked condition, you should be fine. Drain all oil/gas mixture from crankcase, refill with fresh oil and engine should be OK. Sight glass is for looking at oil-level on glass surface itself, ignore everything you see behind it (clutch).

https://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/J_model_oil_change

further suggest pulling spark plugs, cranking engine over for a few seconds to rid chambers of fuel leftovers

Use an old towel (or shop rags) over each spark plug hole as fuel will spray out/up quite a bit.

I perform 2 oil changes in such bikes to fully rid them of fuel, during the 2nd changing filter as well.

PS the carb "overflow" hose doubles as a vent hose....must be left fully clear and unkinked to breathe. Do not plug the end.

Or stick around and learn, and you won't have to pay to have others to do the simple maintenance jobs. You might be surprised at how many problems I read about that were caused by a "mechanic".

Yeah, there are many shops that rush and mess up simple procedures. Such as installing CBR250R (MC41) oil-filter backwards and destroying engine! You can do search here and find how-to guides for everything from adjusting mirrors to complete engine removal and rebuilds.

I'm just down street from you if you want to come over and help me with oil-change to see how it's done. Gonna change oil in my 2002 250, 2009 250R and 1986 VFR750F this coming week.

As suggested by others - learn to do it yourself.

You need to know how to work on your cycle, and what to look for before it becomes a safety issue.

It's not hard, and if Danno will help you - you are golden!

i hooked the carb overflow hose up to the gas tank...
1: First Pull main oil drain plug and also pull the oil filter drain both side.
2: Pull both spark plugs and check clean out air box to.
3: Let sit for 24 hour open.
4: Refill with 10/40w oil
5: Spin the motor with out the spark plugs install for at 5sec
6: If all good fire her up

First of all the the carb don't overflow hose didn't you mean you hook up the vacuum hose to wrong side of fuel petcock it can happen.
