Fairly limited range for thinner wheels, a 150 means that it'll have a wider range of tyres than the 250

BT23's
Pilot Road III
ect. for the twisty back roads

Diablo Rosso Corsa for caning it at the track.

No, Michelin DOT race tire, like a Power One or Power Cup. That could be a good or big deal for those of us that like to throw a bike down the track.

And I didn't close enough at the tire lol

Jesus. That's a lot of money for a fun little wheelie machine. One could get a lightly used 600 for that.

Yep, which is why I don't see the RC390 being successful in the U.S. Premium parts means premium cost, doesn't matter what the cc's are.

And to Americans CCs definitely matter (in case you haven't heard, bigger is always better).

So then why wouldn't you pay a little more for a 600 over the 390?

Economists point out that this approach leads to mediocre end results. For the human psyche having no "skin in the game" always results in reduced satisfaction. There comes a point in the process where you have to get off that train and make a personal-value decision (and getting all ironic and declaring that your personal-value decision is to continue on the "best bang for the buck" path isn't an option).

Given the price I'm still borderline. Maybe try to pick up a used one next fall/winter.

I rarely track the 250 anymore because honestly it's just depressing being blown off by bigger bikes (but then oh so satisfying to pass them in the corners). Also if I see 1 other small displacement bike on the track I'm lucky. And the fact some track orgs here seem to have a personal vendetta against 250s, wouldn't let me bump up a group (was told no small bikes like a 250 allowed in advanced group even after multiple coaches said I should be there), but then yell at me when I make semi-aggressive passes when someone parks it in front of me.

The 390 could be a nice little niche between the 250 and my 600... maybe.

Cuz...

1) I already have a 600

&

2) aftermarket parts or even OEM parts for the fact of the matter will be expensive for the RC390. <--not best bang for the buck!

Depends, I wouldn't get the 390 for the track because replacement parts are going to cost $$$.

The only thing that kind of worries/bothers me is the 1 piece frame/subframe. I already track a Triumph and deal with the annoyances/premiums of that, but no regrets

I see what you're saying. Honestly I don't plan on crashing at a trackday because its a trackday. Its been 2.5 years since I crashed at a TD. Racing on the other hand, you can plan on crashing.... Its only been 1.5 months since my last race crash

Oh how I love that we're not just limited to the Ninja/CBR (hopefully).

8k+!!! Yikes!

I now know for certain I won't be getting one of these. I was looking for a small bike as a second bike, but not at that price. This reminds me of a tiny Ducati, complete with expensive parts. But I guess "you gotta pay to play".

I like premium high quality stuff, but this is a little over the top for the performance to me. For instance - I got my brand new 600 - an old stock 2011 ZX6R early this year for about the same price as this.

*but it's still hot as hell and I would love to own one*

The KTM will undoubtedly have a rider experience unlike anything else currently available that is street legal. Comparing it to a used 600 is not the point. I can find a used 1000 for less than I paid for my 300. So what? I wanted the flickability of my super moto bikes in a 2 up capable machine, and I wanted it as a new vehicle. According to the math, nobody should ever buy a new bike cause there is something used at the same or lower price.

Sorry, not how I see it. I wanted flickability, light feel and the ninja 300 was as close as I could get. I dumped about $6500 into the damn thing at this point to make it better, and I still have spindly fork tubes.

The KTM looks like a bargain to me.

As far as I know, Brembo does not make an aftermarket front sport bike axial MC. The one on the bike looks like an RCS, which is a radial MC.

So according to: http://blog.motorcycle.com/2014/01/2...-trademark-us/

The "R25" is getting a bit of an upgrade.

Might definitely have to jump ship if this is actually a thing! Any news or specs will probably roll out at the end of the year. Which is alright with me haha, I'll have a year on my belt and can decide if I want to bump it up to some new tech.

I would love to see how this thing stacks up next to a kawi 250 or if it's faster than a 300. Looks aren't everything.
