If I had a choice for a new 250, I think I'd go for the CBR250R with this new knowledge about the 2012 Ninjas, I like shiny new technology

Though, the Ninja 250 looks better hands down

If you have a 2011, why get a 2012? Did you buy the 2011 brand new?

The ZX-14 has never had an R, the prior model did (ZX-12R). It is interesting that there still is a 650R, but we'll see when the 2012's are released for that model.

While I don't mind the vinyl I think there should always be the option of solid colours available... Thankfully here in Europe the 2011 range included pearl white as a solid colour I wonder that the 2012 colours will be like for Europe...

EDIT: Added pic :P

Yes I have a 2012 250 in the candy green. It is carbed, does have reflectors, and no decals other than Kawasaki and Ninja on the tank and front fairings. The green color is very similar to the synergy green camaros. I have some pics in my other thread and will get more this weekend.

No, you're OK. If history serves, we can call the 2008+ bikes the new-gen or current-gen for at least another 15 years.

But innovation can be nice sometimes

Is there ANYTHING different about the 2012's that would justify a higher MSRP?

A crappy currency exchange rate?

I was at a car dealership last weekend and looking at the sticker price on a new 2012 model and it had the manufacturer's tag in the window w/all the features and installed options, and then the dealer's sticker w/the "dealer installed options" and one of them was something like "market price adjustment" which added a few hundred bucks to the price of the car.

Ninja 250R - MSRP $4,449 Carbureted
Cbr 250R - MSRP $3,999 Fuel Injected

Although the preference of Carbureted vs FI changes from person to person, I believe that for first time riders (like a good amount of 250 riders are, myself included) FI will be more user friendly. Most first time riders wont know how to tune/modify carburetors (myself included) which FI would not need as much tuning per climate / altitude conditions.

To be completely honest, If I had even heard rumors of a FI 250(by any reputable company) a year ago when I got my ninja I would of waited and bought that instead. Like others said, is there anything that justifies the upped price other than some new graphics scheme's.

Ok kool NEW GRAFICS!!!
O wait how much!!!!
OK I KEEP MY 2010...

Here down in brasil the ninja 250r from 2010 to 2011 are all FI and gess what e dont have fuel indicator on the panel... we got a HEAT indicator...

My opinion... Kawa need to get the brasilian model with FI and the US model with the Fuel indicator... And put all that on a digital panel with gear indicator and a analogic/digital RPM indicator (just love to see the RPM going up by a red pointer)... I would easyly pay US$2000 for it with no concerns...

But pay MORE for the same bike just cause is has 3 strips and 2 color is bull!!!

Sorry for the broken english!!!

A Digital dash would be great! however I quite like the heat indicator lol and I find the fuel light/ trip meter is enough in order to determine when i should re-fuel...

Man i already had my friend give me gas 2 time cause i looked in the gas tank and said "o it is ok, i will make to there" but i had less than half tank... so got the highway and... no gas station... but some of it was my foult... but the heart indicator is good 2 but i would like both fuel and heart on a digital panel...

What i am saing is that if we had a mix of both bike on a digital panel would be a perfect bike...

Definitely a very nice shade of green.

Other than color and price, I can't tell any difference between the 2012 and 2011 models.

As far as why its not FI, it could be that it would affect the price too much. The UK Ninja 250's are FI and cost about $7000.

Maybe it's just me, but I REALLY don't like the look of sport bikes these days. The old 80's-90's bike look much more aesthetically pleasing to me. I'll stick with my pre-gen.

Most cars and bikes are less expensive in the US even if they are of the exact same specification... I am sure they could produce an EFI ninjette in the states if they wanted to for a reasonable price. My guess is unless they see a significant drop in sales Kawasaki have no reason to change anything over the years besides color...
