Hello from Queens, NYC - what's good?!
EDIT: forgot to provide everyone with a pic of the bike after I got it!
here's a crappy cell phone pic of my bike end EDIT what's good everyone? my name is shift and i'm from queens, nyc. took the msf in may and will be picking up an 08 250R in Blue this weekend! can't wait. (though i did see a red one in NJ with less miles, if he replies back and it's a lower price, i'll prolly get that one) this will be my first bike, and am even considering turning it into a track bike. I originally was going to convert my car into track car (cuz ive been road racing in my 06 mkv gti ) but I got the brilliant idea of buying a bike this summer and may convert it to a track bike next summer. i plan on just riding in the street this summer, and taking racing school/advanced riding courses next summer (cuz ima be broke after buying the bike). this is a great bike to learn on, i'd like to pick up the fundamentals and all the good riding habits. a 600 would be too much power to start with and it's so much heavier than the nimble 250. currently i have the scorpion exo-700 i have my friends jacket, gloves and jeans for now. but once i get the bike, i'll be purchasing these items: shift racing streetfighter hybrid (leather/textile) jacket shift fuel street shoe (3/4 cut 'boot') and held phantom gloves (kangaroo and stingray!) this seems like a great community, and hopefully i'll find it just an informative and friendly as the golfmkv community i'm also a part of Last futzed with by shift_6; August 3rd, 2009 at 12:28 PM. |

I just got a 02' 250 as well and am in the process of getting my licence and gear together. Let me know how you like the shoes you ordered, they look stylish!
Goodluck riding!

Welcome to the boards man. I was born in Queens NYC myself but only lived there for 3 years before my dad transferred to Florida for 3 years then to Pennsylvania. That's ancient history for me though, and I now live in Orlando FL.
I have those shoes in black and I LOVE them. They are so incredibly comfortable. They were a little tight at first and I had trouble keeping the velcro down because I couldn't get it tight enough without pinching. But within about a week or two of wearing them they loosened up and fit great with no issues now. I can wear them all day down here in Florida without my feet feeling too hot. They are worth the price if you ask me. |

Welcome shift. Where in queens are you from? I live in massapequa in nassau. Same to you Grn99Kawi, didn't realize you were on LI.
NY weather has been sucking but its been like that in a lot of places lately. I also have those same shift boots/shoes. I have them in black, they're pretty comfortable and provide a decent amount of support for practicing and what not. They already survived an incident where i slid across the parking lot and they were fine. Nice bike btw, I think the blue bike/white gear combo is awesome. I got red/black goin for me.
