Patches on textile jackets

I was thinking about putting a patch or two on my jacket. I have the Cortech FSX-2 jacket and I was wondering if it's possible to sew it on the sleeve without ruining anything inside the jacket? Would it be best to just velcro the patch on the sleeve instead?

I'm a Sergeant in the Marines so I was thinking of putting the US flag on the right sleeve and maybe either a Marine Corps patch on the left or a Mexico flag on the left since I'm also Mexican.

What do you guys think? Has anyone ever done it? Or is it too tacky and I should never have such horrible thoughts ever again...

My scorpion jacket has patches already applied from the factory...If you like patches...go for it.

I like the way you think lol

After looking at my jacket more closely though they really wouldn't fit as nicely as I thought because of the padding.

Velcro works best....I tried the "patch glue" they sell at fabric stores and it was pretty bad....I did have a tailor sew my patches on as well, but velcro works well.
