Odometer/Trip issue

Hey all,

Was hoping someone could help guide me, I've seen a few posts with similar issues but some of my symptoms aren't consistent, so here we are:

My odometer does not record any KMs- it's stuck just before 13,000. The trip meter does count KMs, but the reset button does not work. Speedometer, tach, and fuel gauge all work (needles are sometimes sticky, but we know that ).

So my question is, I'm going to take off the speedometer cable to make sure that's okay at the wheel, but if the speedo is working all the time, would this still be a point of failure for the odometer?
Thanks!

Hi Connor and welcome to Ninjette!

Since speedometer is driven off cable, it's safe to assume wheel-driver and cable are perfectly fine since speedo reads correctly. Issue is with odometer mechanism itself in between speedometer and odometer. Might have been damaged in some way. Most likely some of gears have sheared teeth.

Thanks for the welcome! I've been a lurker for awhile now, just haven't posted until now!

And that's good to know, should I be looking in the dash for any clues then?
