First Crash

Below is a pic of the aftermath. I was pedaling sorta easy due to a fairly recent foot surgery on a road bike trail. Big guy comes up behind me to pass. I don't realize he's there (no rear view mirror). We collide as I swerve to avoid some water. Hit the Big Fella. Bounce off him. Big Fella doesn't go down. I do. Surprisingly hard. I apologize for my incompetence.

Note: if my road rash is this bad squiding it on my bicycle at 15mph, imagine if I would have been squiding it on my 250!

This is my knee. I have rash on my ankle, elbow and thigh(actually the side of my butt). My bike has rash from the other guy's tire.

I'm afraid that when it comes to bicycles, besides the helmet, it's NOTGAAT.

I love it when people go to pass you on a bike bath and do not say anything.

It is common courtesy to at least shout out "rider", normally I say "on your left" or simply ring a bell.

Yeah. I was shaken up so didn't even think about mentioning that at the time.

I'm starting to stiffen up...think I pulled my groin.

Here is a pic of my hip.

It did! Well, except for it was a big dude instead of a compact. Oh, and nobody went into any barbed wire fences. It happened on a bridge near a chained-link one though. Scary!

Minor rash! That, my good friend, is a medium-light rash if there ever was one.

For your viewing pleasure, I give you my knee.

My worst bicycle wreck was when I did an endo on my BMX bike. Skidded on my right arm for a few feet. I brushed myself off. I felt fine, my mom freaked out and said I was to come inside and get my arm treated. Then I noticed the blood flowing from my elbow. Meh, ok.

Went inside. She put iodine on it, then all of a sudden my nerve endings started firing. After she cleaned it up, right before she put the bandage on, I noticed that you could see tendons. Yeah, I ate some serious junk on that one.

I have a nice scar to remind me of that day.

I hate riding in bike paths and in the local park here. We have so many knuckleheads with headphones in, even when you do shout "on your right / left" they don't hear you. Certainly makes riding in the orchards / backroads alot more enjoyable!

I'm right there with you!

I know the good times to ride the path near where I live. There are a lot of baby climbs on the route, so it is a good workout for the 40-mile out and back ride. The little hills occur for about 1/3 of the ride in the middle. So I have plenty of warm up time and plenty of cool down time.

As for the typical path person, my personal favorite are the 3 or 4 ladies that must walk side by side and take up the whole path. Then you yell "on your left" and two of them move left, and two move right. Yeah, I'm on their left, and now I must do a last minute correction to split the group. lol

I do like taking my MTB out there, then I just fly through the grass.

Gotta love the best part when you shout on your left, and the person / people move to the left LOL. That always makes me laugh, I can't be mad about it. We have the same thing, people walking side by side, and of course they love to bring their dog on the extendable leash... I went down on my pilot 2.1 a few years ago due to a careless dog owner letting her dog run all over the park, shouted at her I was coming up, she moved left, I had the dog run right out in front of me last minute. There is no graceful way to get up after crashing with clipless pedals... LOL

I got rid of my pilot 2.1 a few months ago, picked up a trek 4500. So much more fun going and playing offroad! We have some awesome trails up here in northern ca.

I can only imagine. Our trails out here are decent considering how flat it is here in the SE Texas. Still manage to have quite a bit of fun out there.

I do need to take my bike out on them again soon. My schedule did not allow for it this week.
