Turn Indicator Wiring Help?

Hello there everyone!

Here's the scoop:

Left front signal bulb and cover broke during a move. Bought some flush mounts for now till I get some OEMs. I am unsure of how to connect the wiring. I purchased the bike used with flush mounts already on it. They had connected an OEM connector to the wires if these after market lights. Is it so, that all I must do is connect red to green...then black to black/yellow? Do I just rip the bullet connectors off and twist the wires together?

If you're not going to install matching bullet connectors, then make nice solder joints and use heat shrink tubing to insulate them.

I have never done electrical before, I apologize lol. What doyou mean by "matching bullet connectors"?

Would it be possible just to clip, strip and rwist together?

Yeah you *could* cut and strip and twist but it will make it a **** when you need to take the bike apart which you will end up doing. Bullet connectors are cylindrical electrical connector pair for wiring. Male / female.

My wish is to splice the flushmount signal into the OEM connector to plug into the other OEM connector on the bike. I dont feel that would hinder my ability to take the bike apart. I should be getting new OEM ones at some point here soon and was wondering if I can just twist the wires together and tape the connection well? Or is that just dumb?

The honest answer is that it's dumb. As I posted above, solder and heat shrink for reliability. Or get a kit of the right sized Japenese bullet connectors and use those. Twisted wires is not something you want on a motorcycle.

Your best long-term solution is to cut off the wires from the busted flush-mount to recover OEM conector. Then re-use them on new lights. Here's how to butt-solder two wire-ends together.

In anything, however I must admit that my signals got twisted and taped back together after my integrated tail light took a dump. I *could* do it right but meh... Later....

When I bought my pre-gen in March the turn signal connectors were messed-up from a previous accident/owner. I installed a connector used for wiring trailer lights on a car. It's got a male and female connector on one connector and the same on the other connector. It's good and solid and more durable than the OEM bullet connectors. I did this for both turn signals.

YES! Solder and shrink tube the connectors please.

Also note that you've got 2-way lights while factory light and busted one is 1-way. You'll want to hook both circuits up so that both lights are on. By connecting both black wires to ground and red to power on factory harness.

So your saying to solder the Black wire and the Black/White wire into the Black/Yellow on the OEM connector? Then the Red in to the Green?

Is it safe to wire two wires into one?

Yeah it's fine. It's two light circuits in parallel.

Those are cool easy to use connectors! AKA SAE power connectors. I bought a 5-pack to wire up all my bikes with trickle-charging. Cut each connector from junction and ran wire to battery.
