Bike won't start, and what do these wires go to?

96 250 won't start. Got the bike without it running, it sat for ages with no love. Cleaned carbs, new gas tank + battery. Go to start it and nothing even clicks. (ignition on, in neutral, switch in run, etc) Any ideas?

Those are the accessory wires. They aren't supposed to be connected to anything until you choose to use them for a GPS or another small electrical accessory or hookup.

My 94 when I first got it had the same problem seeing that you said you started it guess you mean by crossing it ...... there's a brass plate behind the push starting button that probably needs to be cleaned ...but if you take that side apart where that button is there's a spring there with that plate that don't need to be lost

Yeah I saw it there, it just didn't occur to me to jump it with a screwdriver. I might even have a spare solenoid if it seems that's the problem. I'll report back.

The other wires towards the front of the bike look like wires for the horn. Also if nothing clicks or comes on check the fuses.

I'd also check fuses. Are you sure battery is good? Have you tried jumping it?

Yeah figured out the wires. Remembered I unplugged the horn. Fuses are all good, it's probably the starter button or the solenoid. Leaning towards the button since there's no click or anything, but I'll check it out later.

Brand new battery and I put the electrolytes in about 10 minutes before putting it on the bike. So it should have at least a 70% charge or so. The gauges light up and it should at least try to turn over if nothing else...

Sorry, didn't know the gauges were functional. Have you tried roll-starting it?

Yeah and the rear wheel just locks up. I don't think it's seized, they're just very old and flat tires.

Ok update, jumping the solenoid got it to turn over plenty, bike still wouldn't start or even sputter though. Turned it over for about a minute. So I'm guessing either fuel or spark problem. The carbs and fuel lines were completely dry since I just replaced the tank and cleaned the carbs. Does the bike need to be primed somehow? Or should it have started after cranking for so long?

You should set the fuel petcock to prime to fill the carbs. I think the only problem right now is that your trying to start it dry.

Also make sure your petcock is opening and allowing fuel to go through

I don't think there is a prime. It's on, off and reserve.

I'll get over there later to take the switch apart and clean it. Also see if I have spark, and see if there's fuel getting to the carbs. I also ordered new ngk plugs from kragen so they'll be in tomorrow. Getting there :/
