I don't think the engine gets hot enough to do that if it gets fuel on it. Or are you saying if I get it on my exhaust pipes in the front. Or is there something else that will catch it on fire?

If you spent more time explaining why instead of insulting me...

Apparently you missed the part where I said that JB-Weld does not stick good to aluminum. It sticks for a few months, then suddenly fails. Is there a way to monitor a/f ratio without hooking up to procal? Because I know keeping an eye on that is helpful when tuning. I guess what I'm asking is if anyone has installed a separate gauge/oxygen sensor to monitor it.

Scott, the O2 sensors in this kit are narrow band sensors. They only read and compare if the exhaust is + or - 14.7. Monitoring it would be kinda useless. Then based on the requirements to attain 14.7, the kit extrapolates and supplies fuel to make a rich map with AFR's of your choice.

However, ecotrons does sell a kit for a wideband sensor and read-out so you can watch it while riding.

If I'm just going for efficiency, I should just leave it on Eco mode and not even bother with rich mode. I'm too scared to go over 45mph anyway so... yeah I'm not even going to mess with the program. Unless you got something good.

Yeah if that's the case, just keep it in ECO mode and fart around. I personally hate eco mode even for cruising because I had really well tuned carbs, so I'm working on a rich mode that is leaned enough for good mileage while cruising, but also works really smoothly and strongly when I'm carving a bit.

It has nothing to do with speed.

ECO mode runs in closed loop, meaning it adjusts the fuel delivery based on feeback from the oxygen sensors in the exhaust. Since the oxygen sensors are narrow band (vs wide band), they can only tell when the exhaust crosses 14.7 in either direction. Hence, ECO mode runs the bike consistently at 14.7 AFR.

That's what I thought. Phil threw me off by saying that lol went against everything I learned in this and other threads. That's why it's called Eco/learn mode. Adjusts accordingly.

It's been more than five years since I got my motorcycle license. I just don't like the thought of hitting the pavement at highway speeds, so don't judge me.

So what do you guys think about my fuel rail? Should I just go ahead and contact them and buy another one? I'm seriously thinking about it just to get rid of the small chance that it will leak.

Try contacting ecotrons and see if you can buy a new fuel rail. Explain that you attempted to change the fitting on the rail and you ended up cross threading it. I think that would be the best fix here.

The only guy I have heard of who has used a wideband O2 sensor was @greg737. He is a EFI pioneer and converted his pregen to EFI long before the Ecotrons kit came out. He used a single wideband O2 sensor and controller. Plus he had a display up by the dash.

The narrowband sensors like we have are good enough for most folks. They can tune the bike to stay at the stoic mix. But sometimes, you want it to be slightly richer across the board. You can guess, and use your own hard coded maps. But the wideband will let you tune more precisely.

But I have not heard of anyone using a wideband sensor on the ecotrons kit. I have heard its possible - just never heard of anyone actually doing it.

i installed a wideband on my bike, but it doesn't autotune like greg's.

mines purely a sensor and gauge.
