Rear shock 08 250R

I picked up a used 08 250R. I'll be using it for a track day and race bike. I haven't race in 20years. I missed it so wanted to do it again. I just wondering and suggestions on rear shocks? I know people talking about modding shocks from other bikes. I can't find really anything for used racing shocks. How about an EX500 shock. Has anyone put one of them in? I be leave I still might have one kicking around somewhere. New aftermarket shocks are such crazy money.....

If you aren't on the heavy side, you could try Ohlins Asia. The prices are just under $300.00 usd for a rear shock.

GSXR Shock is the most common swap along with buying shorter dog bones. 50 bucks max

The EX500 shock is basically identical to a PreGen shock, but with preload adjustment and a 300# spring (compared to 440# on the PreGen and 520# on the NewGen). Unless you weigh 100lb or less, I see no way in which it could be an improvement.

I put a NewGen shock on my EX500 because the spring rate is a much better match for my weight. The extra length also lifts the rear a little for a little sportier feel.

I be leave I have a used Fox shock from my old EX500 race bike. I might give that a try. it has adjustable ride height. What year GSXR shocks will work?

Not sure, but I know an 06-07 600/750 works. I think the shock was the same in 08-09 too. Dog bones are around 20 bucks. You can score a shock on fleabay for 25 bucks. I swapped mine. I haven't ridden the bike yet since, but should have it all together again in a week or so. Do a quick search on gsxr shock swap. You will find a good deal of information.
