I don't think it's overhyped, I would be so pissed if I died for 15 minutes (in my version I choose to believe it wasn't the heroin), you're lucky she didn't make you turn dead long term. Plus, she's female and therefore crazy.

I think I have a pretty high tolerance for pain.

excuses?excuses?

Ninjedi,

Somewhere along your motorcycling carer, you will reach a point at which you will realize that it doesn't matter how right you are and how stupid and wrong the people driving around you are: the result will be the same.

Is that painful and costly result what we have to avoid by all means; nobody else will do it for us.

Sadly, life is not what it should be or how we believe it should be, and so are most of the drivers at there.

I have no reason to excuse or condemn any of the persons that collided, but I do have a reason to believe that this experience will change the way in which Jiggles will ride in the future.

Agreed, and this was what I was actually intending to get at with my original question. Jiggles, what are your thoughts? I personally look at the video and think you were riding too fast for the road. Then again, I ride urban roads, and situations like this happen to me daily, so I have a slightly different experience than you might.

you had such a tiny window to react! has to make you wish you got free health care?

similar situation happened to my sister. A jacked up super duty truck ran over the hood of her car making an illegal uturn in the street. Totalled the car, completely scared her for life.

People just don't feel like they have to look while driving a car. They feel invincible!

28mph on a residential street, which most likely should be posted limit at 20mph...nobody wants to say that this could of been avoided by not exceeding the speed limit.

If you were going 20mph, that car would of completed the U turn by the time you got to it....not trying to be a dick or anything, just pointing out the facts.

Good luck on your recovery

Lol, free health care. Then he'd be waiting a month for them to do anything, and any physical therapy would take ages.

Looks like the CA speed limit is 25 in residential areas. Yes, he was going over but not by much.

If Jiggles had left a few seconds earlier and had been going 20-25 he still would have been hit. I don't think the +-8 mph makes a huge difference.

Having lived on a residential street similar to that, I can say residents get lax on their own streets and generally act like morons. Ask my friend who had their car doored because the person opened it about a half second before my friend passed the car. Yeah sure if she had been going a little slower she may have avoided it, but the other person should have been paying attention to what they were doing.

ETA: I like @akima 's title.

Right... never had any issues like that around here with my healthcare.
Physical therapy is immediate around here for sure, in my small city we have 3 PT places. (mind you 1 is only for women)

Getting his leg fixed would have been immediate, i know my foot was done and casted in a couple hours.

I think they have you brainwashed as to how ****** canadian healthcare is.

Nah, it's simple facts. Obviously serious injuries require immediate care (such as surgeries), but if you need to schedule anything other than that, wait time is ~4 weeks, 15% had to wait up to 90 days.

Anyways, your health care isn't free. Higher tax rates pay for it. Fortunately the income tax rates aren't as high in Canada as they are in England and across Europe.

Honestly I don't know if it will, the speed limit on these streets is 25 and if you think I'm going to ride slower than that, well thats just silly. Certainly I need to practice braking, I locked up the front in this crash at the last second, not that it would have made a difference. Honestly I don't know how I could improve upon my riding from this crash. The situation was so out of my control that there's nothing I could have done besides have been riding slower. And the speed I would have needed to be going to evade this crash if she turned when I was at the same distance away, would probably be 10-15mph.

I don't have an edited version with the speedo and I'm too lazy to edit and upload another video just so you can see a speedo which is wildly off from my actual speed

I mean the speed limit is 25mph and I was going 28mph. Honestly I don't think my speed was unreasonable. Just as well I'm not going to tiptoe while on a motorcycle. How would you guys feel if I had been in a car going the same speed and this crash happened? Just throwing a question out

If I would have been going 35 I would have evaded the situation altogether. See the problem with your logic? Altering speed or leave time of any situation will completely alter said situation but would also possibly set you up for another unpredictable situation. The only way we could really look at this is to say, Had I been going 20mph at the same distance from the car when she turned would I have evaded the crash. And the answer is no. I would have less serious injuries but I still would have crashed. The fact is I was so close to her when she initiated the turn that there was no hope to evade it unless I was hobbling along on an electric scooter

Posted limit is also 25mph, not sure I would consider 28mph speeding. So if you want to point out a fact, make sure its a fact before you do so

The only thing I can think of is maybe you would have been better off if you jumped over the car. Yeah it would have sucked but I doubt you would have broken your femur. Though now that I think of it, the point where you would decide "hey, I'd be better off jumping" you were just making contact

But think about how many style points you would have got if you slid across the hood dukes of hazzard style yelling out yeehaw!

I'm in the process of it. I just went out and tried to lift it and I can lift it off the kickstand with my bad leg. I attached a new gopro mount to the windshield so I can record myself. However my leg is feeling kinda tired because of how many trips up and down the stairs I've made today so I'm going to take a break and let the gopro mount adhere and then I'll go out for a short ride.

So is anything under slowing? That's an awfully small mark to hit

When you take the driving test for your license you are allowed to go 2 under and 3 over the speed limit and not get dinged any points
