I don't know about being interchangeable, but here is more info on the pre-gens. Maybe it will help you.

I had seen this about pregens....there is a old Fox 2 clicker(refurb'd) up for sale and was curious if she would fit.

I know the new gen shock will fit the pregens, so it stands to reason the pregen shock will fit the new gens. The new gen shock is a bit longer eye to eye. If you were to mount a pregen shock to your new gen, the rear end would be a bit lower than with a stock new gen shock.

The difference is about 2mm according to the ninja250.org FAQ which could have been due to wear according to them. Not sure why you would want a pre-gen shock on a new-gen though. It's not as strong nor does it have any sort of adjustment.

Yes but the question was would the old-gen fit the new-gen implying he wanted an old shock on a new bike. And since they are interchangeable then why use a lesser shock? Right now I'm trying to get a used new-gen shock to replace my now blown pre-gen shock.

...and he clarified his implication saying he was looking to purchase a used Fox double clicker that was originally designed for a pregen. Why make this thread any harder than needed?

Not trying to make it hard, just asking an honest question. Are you trying to make it hard by asking why I'm asking?

I was referring to that in your original post. He's not thinking of putting a stock pregen shock in a new gen.

Yes, but his mention of the fox2 clicker doesn't say what he's planning on doing with the bike. The ORIGINAL question was to put an older style shock on a newer style bike. Hence my question is towards that, why are you making this difficult?

Well, if you want to be accurate about this, he asks if the mounts are interchangeable, not the shocks.

Sorry if you think I'm being difficult, you're reading way too much into this.

I thought this was pretty clear on what he was intending to do.
