Honda CBR250RR in 2011

http://www.topspeed.com/motorcycles/...g-ar80944.html
Not sure if anybody has seen it before, a quick search on the forum didn't return any good results.
It looks like our Ninja will get some competition some time soon.

So, what are your thoughts?

Looks pretty nice probably will be some competition for the ninja. That v-twin engine will probably give it a little more umph at the low end than the ninja. Knowing honda its going to be expensive though.

Yeah, right.
This one should produce 32.1bhp so it must be fuel injected.
I'm strangely surprised why doesn't Honda target major 250 markets, or should this change? I think it's a 'Watch this space' case.

America is considered the place where only horsepower matters, That's why there are so few 250 sportbikes here. Honda should bring it though since they don't really have an entry level sportbike. Or are they too scared of the kawasaki ninja 250r? lol

One thing about it is pretty cool to me - an aluminum frame. Wonder how much it weighs in comparison to the Ninja 250?

It's not as ugly as some of Honda's recent models (See also: NT700 and new VFR1200, although the Fury looks nice), but it's quite a ways behind the Ninjette.

Put me down for two!! I'll need a B bike as well.

I have seen the future. The world economy tanks, large capacity bikes become prohibitively expensive to build much less buy, and Honda, along with other manufacturers, decides to import 250's into America. Production 250 racing sees a heyday that rivals post-Earnhardt NASCAR. Glorious.

I would like to see it come to the US. Kawasaki makes a great product but they need a little competition to push them to make it even better. I think the bike would sell very well in the US and cause other builder to step up there game a little.

Hehehe, you must not know Kawasaki very well The new gen Ninja 250R will look the same 20 years from now. They could care less about competition. Their bread and butter models soldier on forever.

Like most here, I prefer the EX250J's styling, though I do like seeing the aluminum frame. Even though it's visibly much thinner than most aluminum frames, it is still overkill and mostly for looks, which only makes me wonder why they didn't do something similar with the swingarm.

I know kawasaki very well actually aside from my Hayabusa, kawasaki has always been my motorcycle of choice for many many years. You are right about them not changing things, however when the market pushes for it they will change. I personally wouldn't buy a honda but to see kawi come out with an alum. perimeter frame would be kickass.

My personal opinion would be to discontinue any and all 250cc twins and release 400cc 4 cylinders.

I doubt we will see a 250 CBR from Honda here in the states, considering all of their bad moves in the last 10 years...

They did not release an updated Hawk 650 when Suzuki had a hit with the SV so I doubt they will try to compete with Kawi in the 250 market.

They make a kinda cool CBR 150, I actually almost bought one (Thai market) but it does not compare to the Yamaha 125 that is actually much more track oriented (capable) than the Honda which is just a street bike.

It is sad we do not get the cool 250's and 400's the rest of the world does, I can just imagine what a modern CBR400RR would be like!

Some of it looks alot like the CBR 150 (frame) so I am sure they chopped it a bit from that!

I could not see Honda using a parallel twin 250, maybe a V or a single.

Honda has been doing it's best to squash the Ninja 250 Cup here in Canada. Easy to do seeing as Kawasaki isn't backing it in any way. Kawi is barely supporting Canadian racing at all this year. Maybe this is Honda's answer for how to help out all the young racers that are coming up through the CBR 125 Cup ranks. Most of them aren't ready to get on a 600 and the SV cup pushes them over to a different manufacturer.

This is the engine they will use:

Engine 249cc 90° V-twin DOHC 4 valves per cylinder, bore x stroke 60 mm x 44 mm, compression ratio 11:1
Power 23.9 kW (32.1 hp)@10500 rpm
Torque 23.5 N·m (17.3 ft·lb)@8500 rpm

To me the figures are almost the same as the Ninja's FI engine.
This should be a very close comparison, and in the very near future these two bikes will be often closely compared (and raced).

How's that? Are they getting people to race the VTR? Is there an aftermarket for that bike up there?
