Got some bikes and ordered some parts!

Wife and I bought 2 bikes. 2009 ninja black for her, and 2010 ninja red for me.
Got really good deals on both. Hers is just over 2k in miles, has heated handgrips, tinted signals and windscreen and lowered. Other than that, its all stock
Mine has 900 miles, and bit more mods

Looking for a place to join and get advice and tips. I have a few things id like to get done.
My oil changed. Its not as easy as going to the car parts store. Im guessing this stuff needs to be ordered?
A good fender eliminator kit
and If I can use my DDM hid slim ballasts on a bike. I have soo many kits unused from my car club, and would like a bit more light at night

Changing the oil is easy. Buy oil & filter, drain oil, put new filter in & new oil.

As for the other mods, depends what you wanna do.

Nice looking bikes, btw. That decal kit is interesting...I think it'd look better if it was on the black bike, still complements the red though.

Thanks Pictures do no justice for my bike I think its my iPhone's contrast, too washed out.

Now the oil, I'm at 900 miles. Its a piece of mind for me to change it now that I'm the new owner. However, its not the changing that is stopping me, its where do I obtain cycle oil and filters? There isn't an autozone or pepboys for bikes is there? Id like to go synthetic and k&n filter..

Im going to get a youtube video up so you can hear the full yoshimura exhaust/jet kit/filter set up
Then I need to get a suction mount for my gopro =)

Wal-mart sells Rotell T-6 full synthetic.
You can get the oil filter at autozone.

there are shops specific for bikes. not sure whats around you but there should be plenty, cyclegear is a big chain, pretty much any dealer can order oem parts for you. you can also order online, motorcyclesuperstore.com, bikebandit.com, cyclegear.com, newenough.com, cheapcycleparts.com

if you can find a local shop and make some friends you can usually tack your orders on with their shipments and get free shipping if they dont already have what you need in stock. and if you are really friendly (read: flaunt your goods), biker people will usually give you nice discounts.

hi bob,
nice bikes.

the only i can add is
if you plan on keeping the bike for a while, have a fleet supply place near you order them its much cheaper than the parts store.

i always change the oil, check my plugs, refill the radiator whenever i purchase a vehicle.

was the 600mi service done on the bikes?

As far as the service goes, they both ( sellers) claim it was done. Both were bought from same dealership too.
I have a feeling auto oil and cycle oil are different. Either way, Im going to check out the motorcyclesuperstore and see what I can order

Also thanks for the link for the vinyls. I been looking for weeks for a complete kit for her black bike. AAVinyl has everything I was looking for in one place.

Everyone uses the Rotella T6 as full synthetic, don't worry about it, use the search function on here if you want.

soo after looking at fender eliminator kits, what do you guys think about the Hotbodies under tail? Seems like the painted to match ones cost around 250$ but the smoked one is only 150$ I wouldn't mind if it was black and had a smoked light.

any thoughts?

I bought 2 k&n filters (401 or 410 i forgot already) and 1 gal of the Rotella T6 which is what you guys recommend. The other brand I was told was the moble1 4T cycle oil but I never heard back.

Ordered 2 kits. 1 for each bike It's gonna look awesome on the '09 black The whole bike is blacked out except for the soon to be here vinyls from Kevin
Hopefully HotBodies is a good good company and the install is a breeze

Only thing left is a tire hugger. Black. Or I paint it black either way

I just I should start a new thread once all my goodies come in. Or just make this one an epic thread.
Hopefully it will all be here by Monday. I'd prefer it be here by the weekend but forecast calls for rain anyways.

Going to paint the backside black and leave just the tailight part tinted. That should really darken it up

Thanks guys
Lol I still have not ventured outside my noob thread, and started a new one yet. I just have not had the time to finish any bike projects.

My helmet came in , my under tails , oil filters, oil, and her pink decals.
Eventually I'll get some time off from working on car and house, and get back to my bikes

Well after 2 installs, I can say I can do these pretty easy now.
This one is the wife's bike.

I can't see why you need to cut the factory undertail. I did it both ways, once cutting , and once without. I think leaving it uncut is better

Also using the smoke tails , a nice coat of black paint on the back side goes a long way

Really makes it looks like a nice gloss black

Bob, there are strict rules in this forum pertaining to husband-wife 250 owners. Wives are required to do all the maintenance and modifications since they are more likely to follow directions and search for the information to DIY.
