Shimming vs Snorkel out

Hi all,

I know that a lot info about shimming and remove snorkel. Short story, I have ninja all stock except dbs silencer. Recently I replace my FP needles with stock needles cause with FP accelertion was good but on RPM needles always higher then KM needles (not with the stock needles). I don't know something wrong with the jetting or what. So now I am running stock needles running good, then try to put 2 wahser each needles even better, but with 2 washer each, it is hard to hit 9K. So what i know if i put wahser a lot of people is remove snorkel. My question is which one is the good result between remove snorkel or change drop in filter to compesate my jetting?

I've found the snorkel-removal increases engine sound (if that's a factor for you) by about 10db. Because I travel from 5200 to 9800 feet altitude pretty regularly, it was a good compromise. I run a bit lean at 5200 but at 9800 it sits just right, and I get crisper acceleration and my top-end went up about 5mph.

There's an argument that un-shimming is harder to do than re-snorkeling, so I'd probably try the snorkel-removal first as it takes about 10 minutes max. Shimming might take 30 if you're knowledgeable with the process.

Shimming will have an effect in low and mid-range, but doesn't have any effect at WOT once the slides are all the way up (8000 should do it).

Depending on your mods, you may need to increase the main jet size.

Something else is going on if you lost power over 8000 when you shimmed the needles.
