tripmeter issue; 9 not turning 0 for the 100 meters.
My 250R has almost 28 000 km on the odometer.
Today I noticed that the leftmost numbers on the tripmeter had not turned fully into their position. Also, the rightmost, counting 100 meters, would not turn from 9 to 0. When it was about to turn, i could see the 9 shaking a little, but not turning away, letting the 0 to display. I did a reset, and it counted to 9 again, but would not turn to 0. This happened 2-3 times. After I did another reset, it seemed to be normal, for the next 2-3 kilometers. Then I parked the bike. Is this probably an early sign that the tripmeter is going to break down entirely, and cease to function? Thanks. |

It does sound like something is slightly off with plastic gearing in there. Have you ever tried to reset it while the bike was moving? Believe it or not, it's a common cause of breaking those old mechanical gadgets.

It has been behaving well after the mentioned occasions, as far as I have been able to notice, at least. I will remember not to try and reset while driving, from now on, hoping that it will last.. Thanks for your message. |
