Ninja Biker Shunted by Bus :O [187premises]

Link to original page on YouTube.

I really hate tailgaters. It's hard dealing with them. Checking what they are doing means taking your concentration away from what's infront of you, to the moron behind, grrr

To deal with these people, I try and put another vehicle between me and the tailgater as soon as possible. Lane splitting is a fantastic safety mechanism from them too.

As for this video. The only thing I figure he could have done differently is hold down his horn and blown through the zebra-crossing swerving to avoid the pedestrian if he decided to step out.

Tailgating bus > potential pedestrian. Bus is at fault, but I'd never bring the bike to a stop that quickly with a bus that far up my ass, just hoping he'd stop in time. A ticket for blowing the crosswalk beats getting run over by a bus any day of the week.

I agree it was almost as if he was baiting the bus to prove a point, not that it excuses the bus driver. The only problem with blowing the crosswalk is if the people crossing aren't paying attention then it's not just a fine.

Dry weather. His horn plus a quick swerve could reduce the chance of hitting the pedestrian to almost nothing.

This.

Unless I'll hit someone by not stopping, I don't if I'm in the lead.

I never could understand tailgaters; for me, the few of those creatures able to tailgate motorcycles are beyond the frontiers of human stupidity.

Bus drivers are trained to stop smoothly, avoiding complaints and even falls from passengers (no seat belts, standing passengers).

Motorcycles can stop quicker than heavier vehicles.

Again, to be right and to be safe are not the same things.

The best way to get ride of tailgaters: slow down enough to exasperate those Homo non-sapiens.

I just happened to be severely tailgated and almost cut into this morning on my commute to work. I was slowing down getting ready to turn right onto a freeway onramp that curves about 180 degrees so I signal and stay towards the middle of the lane where I see a car on my ass and attempts to overtake me INSIDE towards the right (on a one-lane onramp), almost hitting my rear wheel.

After all that bullshit I managed to throw a middle finger and do a 1-handed U-turn while shaking my head at the guy.

I bet! Kids seem to like seeing me on my bike without me doing anything special. A brightly coloured, super-powerful-bicycle being ridden by an armoured up superhero! Seeing a motorcyclist doing a wheelie too must make their tiny heads explode with joy

When my son was 2 or 3 some dude in full red leathers passed us and he yelled out : POWER RANGER!!

Boys do seem to light up around bikes. I made one kid's day a week ago when I let him slip my helmet on his head in a store... he played with the visor, sun visor and bluetooth... really nice to see their faces light up. He asked if that was my bike out there and looked a little stunned when I said yes. I guess I'm just too much of a nerd to ride a bike that cool in his eyes??

Ha ha ha! That's so cool.

Side comment: I hate power rangers. I remember sitting down to watch cartoons as a kid and then to my horror finding that only power rangers was showing. Bare in mind there were only 4 tv channels when I was a kid.
