Coolant and filling

I'm in the middle of doing the 600 mile maintenance inspection (as per a DIY on here), and I noticed that my coolant container on the right side of the bike is at the "L" line. I called up a shop to double check what kind of coolant I need, and they told me any coolant that is rated for an aluminum radiator is sufficient. However, the person I spoke to also said that this container is an overflow container and that I shouldn't be adding to it? Can anyone verify this information for me, as I'm following both the DIY and the info from the manual, and both say this container should be at the "F"?

Also, the person I spoke to said not to add to the existing coolant, so I'd have to flush out what is in there before adding more in?

While level, fill to to the full line with any 50/50 premix antifreeze.

Then ride into the sunset.

Unfortunately, the person you talked to doesn't know the first thing about cooling systems.

Follow the manual.

Ahh, the joys of my "obsolete" single. I top up the coolant and do an oil change simultaneously.

Alright, one last thing, drain and fill? Or just top off?

Again, follow the manual: inspect and fill up as needed (keeping the bike vertical and with the engine completely cool); fully replace coolant and vent the system every three years or 24K miles (whichever comes first).

Thank you! Finished up the 600 mile service a little while ago, simple enough and just about everything was in order!
