Clutch cable adjustment

How often do you adjust the clutch free play?
I have now adjusted mine twice in the 5500Km that I have done since new.
Is this cable stretch or a combination of cable and the clutch plates bedding in?
If it’s the plates bedding in how long does it take?

I don't think there is a set time or pattern to this. Yes, the cable will stretch a bit more initially and the plates wear as they bed in, but continued use of the clutch (and everyone uses it at a different rate depending on riding usage)will continue to wear the cable and plates.

Just keep it properly adjusted and lubed. Also, be sure to change your oil at least as often as recommended by the manufacturer... more if you want to be proactive.

Make sure you don't adjust it too tight as well

One guy in another forum had his clutch adjusted way too tight and slowly burnt up his discs as they were constantly slipping. As annoying as it is having the handle with a little slack in it, it beats burning up your clutch plates prematurely.
