J&E Pistons- 1 ring or 2 ring

I'm purchasing a set of J&E pistons for the 250. Does anyone know the difference between the 1 ring vs 2 ring?

Also, Is the stock piston a 1 ring or 2?

Stock piston is two ring. I have always used two ring. But I have no idea why they make one ring. If you call the JE tech line they will answer all your questions. I am curious to know.

Turns out they make a 3 ring & 2 ring. No 1 ring.

J&E response: "Hi Bradley,
The part numbers you gave me indicate a 3 ring versus 2 ring question so I'll assume that's what you're looking for. The real difference between the two is that the 2 ring design should have less parasitic drag in the bore while the 3 ring design should provide more durability. If you're racing and need every available horsepower go with the 2 ringer, if not go with the 3 ringer.

Thank you for choosing JE Pistons!

Tj"
