Uhh, so I bought another 250

Still planning on buying a 300. This popped up for sale near me though, and after a short ride I just had to have it.

2009 KLX250sf, has just a little over 2k miles on it also has a 2 bros exhaust. Bought it for $3,200 which is a good deal in my area, trust me.

It's a lot different than the sportbikes I'm used to riding, and a total blast.

I love mine. I ride it way more than the ninja. For commuting or just riding around in town the KLX wins hands down. I wish it didn't top out at like 85mph though. It makes it hard to ride on the freeway. Other than that. I have no complaints.

I need to take an updated pic. It now has Protaper bars and some hand guards. I want to get a FMF slip-on and jet it soon. And SS brake-lines.

Oh and this bike crashes well. Unlike the ninja! Can't say the same for the handlebars though. That's why I upgraded.

Haven't taken mine on the highway yet. I think the ninja would still be better for long trips, or freeway riding.

I was surprised at how fast the klx is though. It's a hoot to ride around town.

I have a few mods in mind for mine as well. Bars, handguards, skate wheel sliders, and a different mirror.

Yeah, the ninja would definitely be better for freeway/highway riding.

I just like where the power is on the KLX for around town. And you can see through traffic easier since you sit up higher. Plus it's just so light weight that you can throw the bike around the corners like it's a bicycle. And when you want to ride on the side walk and just hop off to get in front of traffic it handles that nicely as well.

Damn now I kind of want one of these... hmm maybe if I ever get a bigger bike, I'll trade in the ninja for one of these. That way I can still ride a girls bike (She's just more of a tom boy...)

Looking for a 2010 model... Like the blue accent on it...

Just asking, do you have adjustable suspension up front and in the back? On the canadian site, they state that you can adjust the compresison and rebound on the front and back, and the preload is adjustable in the back.

Thanks...

One more thing, around town, is the klx faster than a ninja? from a stop or a red light, when passing or overtaking. And I guess the suspension is much more confortable ovre the potholes, cracks and bumps?

Front is not adjustable. Rear is.

Power is similar to the ninja. The KLX has a better power band for around town riding. I'd say it will be slightly quicker from stop light to stop light. I know that it will at least be more fun! This bike is great for in town riding.

Suspension is great for rough roads. It can handle the worst. And jumping curbs is a simple task.

Uhhh you might want to check again @Jono. I haven't messed with my forks yet, but this is from the Kawasaki website.

"The KLX250SF’s fully-adjustable suspension features 16-way adjustable compression and rebound damping on both the 43mm inverted cartridge-style front fork and the Uni-Trak® rear suspension. Wheel travel is 9.1-inches front and 8.1-inches rear which strikes a happy-medium between long-travel off-road designs and short-travel sportbikes."

The rear is also adjustable for pre-load. Here's another quote I like from kawi's website, " It’s “just” a 250, but its light weight of just 302 pounds means the KLX250SF packs the sort of performance you’d expect from something bigger and more expensive. Few motorcycles — of any size or price — are capable of out-cornering it."

The KLX is definitely faster stoplight to stoplight than my pre-gen 250. The KLX makes more torque down low than my ninja 250, and makes good power even at 10k rpm. The ninja wins at top speed though. Remember the KLX is only making like 17hp at the rear wheel. It doesn't feel like it though, it is surprisingly quick I think. I even do short highway commutes with no problem.

It is a blast around town or on the backroads, even does ok off road. It's so easy to throw around tight turns you almost don't even have to think about it. When I got mine I drove it for about a month straight without driving the ninja. When I finally drove the ninja again it felt really weird, and I actually sucked at riding it for a while.

If you get a chance to ride one take it. You won't be able to wipe the smile off your face.

So I looked at my forks today, and they are definitely adjustable. According to my owners manual they are adjustable for compression damping, and the stock setting is 12 clicks out.

As soon as i saw this thread/picture of the bike, i fell in love lol I immediately jumped over to craigslist to see how many were for sale in my area. Two. ONLY TWO! Both are bone stock. The one is kinda beaten down for $3k and the other only wanted trades but was in similar condition. So jealous of you now lol
