still debating on which sprocket swap to do...

I reallllly want some acceleration boost, but then i plan to do a lot of 1.5hr trips to dc where most of my friends are... i dont want to sacrifice being comfortable on that dreaded 495 beltway where everyone goes about 85

so i was thinking i should just go with a 15/45 setup.. will the accel suffer all that much? i figure with a 15/43 setup it would, but maybe just 15/45 would help comfort on highways

i originally wanted a 13/47 setup for better acceleration, but would hate to get on the highway and suffer for an hour

maybe something in between? is 14/46 or 14/47 still within the right limits of the chain?

I went with the 15/41 setup and it has been great for me. I do alot of highway riding and I'm completely happy with the result. Acceleration loss is minimal, and by minimal I mean MINIMAL, lol. I've got two friends with '08 250s that have done the same swap and love it as well. Highway cruising can be done in 5th or 6th, plus there is still plenty of acceleration left in 6th to get around a car or whatever. Around town, I find myself in 4th most of the time. Doing this swap will not turn the bike into a flaccid scooter. It is a good setup that leave your acceleration alone, for the most part, plus give you more comfortability on the highway. I would do this mod again in a heartbeat. Just sharing my experience with it.

thats really good to know... i have a feeling i will go this route as well. once i get my full exhaust, i figure that will help bring some of the acceleration back

It will take some time to get used to the longer gears, but it's really not as bad as some make it sound.

I have got a 15t on the front, rear is stock (can't remember what it is) and I am happy, I have dropped rpm by 1000 at 100kph and is still has enough pull to hit 160 on the speedo in a few seconds from 100...

I actually think this was better for my acceleration (as contradictory as it may sound) as I don't have to shift as early (I don't know the exact figures, these are just seat of the pants feelings.)
