New Member from Philly
Hey guys, figured I'd pop in and introduce myself. Hopefully I'll winding up hanging out here more often I'm just south of Philadelphia in the suburbs.
I've been riding about 10 years and I've got a serious problem with buying and selling bikes. Currently, I've got an 01 Aprilia Mille, an 04 Aprilia RSV, and a '10 Triumph Bonneville. A few other Triumphs, an R1, and a couple Honda cruisers in the past as well. I actually owned an 05 250 for a bit. It was really for my then-wife, but she never really rode it, so I put most of the miles on it. Anyway, I was down in Florida at Jennings a couple weeks ago with a bunch of friends and one fellow had an 08 250 he let me run around the track. I was hooked! Looking to sell one of the Apes and pick up an 08+ 250 for commuting and track use. Here's me swinging through T13 at Jennings... |

Thanks guys! For the local crowd, I'm in Media.
Not really involved with any local riding groups, although that's mainly due to lack of free time. I'd be interested in joining in if I can make it. |

When does CSBA ride? I used to ride with Christian Motorcyclist Association years ago, but it was in Delaware and a bit of a hike. plus they were all cruiser riders

Scraperman1 is based in Green Lane, PA. Their meeting place is usually up Trexlertown area, which is a good 40 mi. from my place. I usually make it to their rides at least once a year. I shy away from the large groups, since the rate of "incidents" occur far more frequent when the # of riders gets above 6 or 8 in the ride group. Just take a look at a few threads on PA forum, seems like each ride they had someone had a spill. |

Phili, my hometown. Jennings is such a fun track. It's a hike from Phili though.

Its quite a hike. There's a friend of mine who organizes a 3 day rental, so even though it's a drive to get there, we get plenty of track time for 3 consecutive days, so it's worth the trip

I hear you on the large groups. I was never a big fan of that myself. Too much of a pain to keep enough space between folks so that people can enjoy the ride while trying to keep close enough to stay together.

Let me know if you go. I may try to make it. Nifty Fifties is a cool spot. 50s style diner with shakes, soda fountain, etc. It's only about 15 minutes from me.

I dug up sics from a ride I participated with CSBA back in 2008.. moto casualty occured early:
They were in too much of a hurry to pass instead of getting a decent pic taken while riding. |

Any reason for the front end to be tucked under or are the brakes just that good?

D'oh, didn't realize it was this past Saturday. Heck, I almost missed the fact that it was even March! Wound up spending most of the day putting street bodywork back on the trackbike, picking up a battery for another one, and shimming the needles on the 250. Was a nice day for riding though

AFAIK, the Philly chapter of CSBA meets are on the first Saturday of each month.
Ephrata Meets are on the 1st Sunday of each month between MAR and NOV. I plot out a nice route from Pottstown to Ephrata through French Creek & Maple Grove Drag Strip, 45+ mi., mostly single lane, handful of traffic lights, lots of turns and elevation changes, rarely seen LEO along the way.. very entertaining for all level of riders: Last futzed with by "A"; April 1st, 2011 at 06:00 AM. |

Philadelphia Riders are doing their monthly 2nd Sunday ride.. on Sunday 13 MAR 2011:
This month's ride will start near Ridley Creek Park, head west out to the Susquehanna and then loop back towards Philly. Brian will be having breakfast near the beginning of the route at a place called The Country Deli. Please feel free to join him if you'd like at 9:00 AM. If you'd like to eat at Honey's and still participate in the ride.....no problem, just plan on leaving Honey's by 9:30 AM, so you'll get to The Country Deli before 10:00 AM. D'oh! That looks like a nice ride! Sundays don't work for me cause of church. The country deli is a great little spot to eat. Only about 10 minutes from me.

Thanks Matt. Been enjoying the little 250. Was actually in center city with it yesterday. Feels good to park for $2 in quarters instead of $20

My Aunt was one of the last families to live in the park. They were basically share croppers and she vowed never to set foot back on a farm. After working her way up to a bank VP she is now retired and lives in her Beach house in NJ.

I'm only a couple miles from Ridley Creek. Never seem to have enough time to make it further for nice rides, so I also spend a lot of time riding back in there, near Cheney University, Chadds Ford, etc. If you're looking to get out and ride, drop me a PM and we'll set something up. Summer free time is starting to disappear, but maybe we can fit something in or do a weeknight?

If you guys ever get tired of city traffic and looking for some real roller coaster rides on your motorcycles; I'm out near Valley Forge, just few more miles, you can ride for hours without encountering LEO, fun in the horse country backroads.

We should setup a time to do that. There really is some nice riding out towards VF. Don't get out there much, but it's not far for me. For the guys in Philadelphia, you can head west on 76 and (minus the traffic) get there pretty quickly.

I'd suggest a Saturday, but free ones are in short supply for me
I could swing a Sunday afternoon after church. Maybe a weeknight now that it's light out so late?
