NE Ohio riders! 'bout time this thread gets made!!

So! I'm home for summer, and it looks like we finally have enough riders for a decent little ride

so far, people in the area are as follows:
  • myself
  • @jarnar591
  • @codestp202
  • @nautica
  • the high school kid in the house across from my gf, if I can work up the nerve to walk across the street and awkwardly ask about riding...
  • my buddy who gets home from OU in June
  • @Felipe the Ant (once he gets his @$$ here from NH and into Cleveland!)
  • @RiderOnTheStorm (once he moves here later in June)
  • a few random 250's I see around Hudson, but have never really talked to

Basically, we have the Valley, which is good for some quick twisties, but also has the emerald necklace, which is a beautiful cruise through the Cleveland Metroparks. Since I know we have riders of various levels here, a nice scenic cruise might be the best idea! NE Ohio 2fiddy biker gang unite!

I'm always willing to meet up with other 250 riders, chill for lunch somewhere, and go for a ride! Just let me know when you want to ride! I personally am working 7 days a week between 2 jobs, but I have plenty of free time.

In the mean time, check out my picture albums on my profile to see some teasers of the beautiful areas we'll get to ride through. This really is one of the most scenic areas of Ohio. Also, everyone is welcome to head to Mid-Ohio with csmith12 and myself on the 4th of June for a track day. It would be a great way to learn together and get out on the track as well.

Thanks guys, let me know when/where you want to ride. There's plenty of stuff that goes on in the Cleveland area. Heck, we could even do a group ride to the Cleveland Zoo

It IS about time haha!! I'm down, sounds like fun, let's get a solid date for either late May or early June when a bunch of us could go!

Cool! This thread will work. Sorry about being gone for a while, I have been super busy but i can't wait to go riding. I work evenings so any afternoon would work for a shorter ride for me. But I could go on a longer ride some time when I'm not working that night. Usually Thursday and Friday nights are open for me. We just need to all set something up soon!

Well, my schedule for work is mon-fri 7:00-3:30, and then Sat 4:00-9:00 and Sun 1:00ish-6:30ish

so that leaves Sat morning/early afternoons open, and weekday afternoons/evenings as well.

Just so everyone knows, we will take things at a pace everyone can handle. This is a group ride thread, not a chase the leader and hope to not get left behind thread. In case there is any worry of holding the rest of us back, fear not!! All skill levels are welcome! There's great roads to just cruise on in the Valley and lots of great scenery to enjoy.

the biggest question yet:
WHO'S GOT A DATE TO SUGGEST?? I'M READY TO RIDE!!! I've been out on my own this week, but it's not the same.

Thursday the 24th works for me as long as my bike isn't being torn apart for the install of my efi kit. It should get here sometime next week, and the bike will promptly be torn apart when it gets here

Would Thursday the 31st that work better for you Brian? Give you a week to get settled in and then get out riding?

Took a nice cruise through the valley today, and it made me realize how bad the stock seat is! My coccyx hurt to even sit on for a few minutes when I got back. Definitely a nice ride, but I still got a lot more of the valley to explore.

It gets better with more miles, although I don't remember it being THAT bad....

My only gripe is sliding forward and getting wedgies all the time. But I never got around to fixing it because every time I try to do something to my bike I end up going riding instead

Anyone want to go for a morning valley cruise this Saturday (26th)? Thinking meet somewhere at 10 and start riding at 10:30? Weather pending but as of now looks like a pretty nice week.

Welllll, I would have had that time off, but someone at the Bakery called in sick, and I'm working more to cover. Not sure if I'll have mid-morning off or not, but it's kind of a bummer.

Note about the seat: Try scooting back. Helps a ton with keeping the blood flowing to prevent umm, discomfort.

Oh believe me there's plenty of blood flowing. I love my bike. Today is her birthday actually, I wanted to surprise her with some sexy lingerie but it's late -_-

Plus it's from Honda which makes it even more riskayy

Anyone have any nice routes around the area that I should try? Getting a little boring going into the valley (though not sure how much more I haven't been through) and just looking to change it up.

So... It's official I got the apartment lined up and I'll be leaving on the west side around Brook Park.

Here's the question though, what bike shop do you recommend around here??

If you're riding today, be safe!!

Riding in the Valley: have you ridden the emerald necklace? That's most of where I ride. It's a great cruise, and there's plenty of fun little twisty roads not far from it. Other than that, I know you can head about 3 hours south to Hocking Hills and find some great riding.

When there's work I can't do on my own, I use MPH. They're a little pricey, but they're really professional, do a fantastic job, and have never cheated me in any way, shape, or form. I was referred to them by multiple, other riders (who don't even know of each other) who have been riding a long time and I trust

Haven't gone up to emerald necklace yet. I'm just looking for a little cruise after work on the week days.

Any group ride ideas yet?

Emerald necklace is a great place for a good cruise. That's the plan for the group ride.

Unfortunately, having some bike problems right now. I'll let you all know when it is fixed.

Lucked out and had a pretty good day to ride. Ended up riding for about 3 hours before I had to head back and readjust the armor in my riding pants, kept digging in my knee which has never happened. Next ride I think maybe we can head south and play around near southern ohio for a little bit. And once some extra throw away money comes in I would like to get a GoPro for several reasons, but I don't have an extra $250 laying around due to a bunch of stuff going on.
And any ETA on your bike being completed chone? I saw you figured the problem out in your thread.

Yeah I'd be game for that, but timing might be my issue for a southern Ohio run. Ehhh, we'll see. It's all going to be dependent on how long the shop takes, or how long shipping on a new head takes. Then how long it takes me to get everything back together. I'm hoping 2 weeks and she's back on the road, efi and all.

I'm fine with a ride, as long as it's within the next two weeks before I go back to school. I've been so busy this summer that I haven't even had time to get out for joy rides on the ninjette. Almost all of my rides have been commuting.

And a long ride to niagra falls? Ugh. I don't like freeway like that.

Were any of you guys out tonight (8/22) along the northwest side of the Emerald Necklace? I saw two different Ninjettes tonight while heading south (away from Lakewood) and about leapt off my bike. There was a green and blue one and it was beautiful!
