I'll be down as long as I'm not taking an summer courses. It'll be a good chance for me to head home and visit the family in Cbus.

Hey guys joined just in time for winter in Ohio... but I am always up for some riding in Columbus or Cincinnati. I am from Cincinnati but go to OSU, so I split my time between them. As long as I am living in Ohio in June you can count me in.

Hey! I know it's been about a decade since I've posted, but I'm still in cleveland and down to meet up for a group ride. My brother and I rode OH 536 back in October. It was miserable because of the weather, but there is a lot lf great places around there and scenery to boot. I'll go wherever though! Thread definitely subbed.

536 is one of the ones I was going to suggest, but I forgot the number

I've read/seen that it's a really nice road. Here's a video:

Link to original page on YouTube.

That one's real haul though. I think I might need to get my GPS installed before I start going on rides with you guys if we're heading that far south. I'll look into that.

Oh Chris...... it is not that bad. our campus is motorcycle friendly. on the other hand, don't ride a bike on this campus for many reasons. Chase can to that response if you know what happened during the first 3 weeks of class.

Haha, I've only been on campus three times. Once was a tour. Once was a trip to visit a friend for the day. The last time was for a weekend to visit my buddies. Hot damn is it different than ONU. It's even more nuts than BG because it's so much bigger.

No bicycles?? Count me out. Why are bicycles no bueno?

EDIT: 536 does look like a great ride to cruise and enjoy the scenery. I would love to rip through it, but I'll save that for when it's not big group ride. Honestly though, if we do it just like Brett and I rode south canton, we'll be perfectly fine. That was a nice ride. We basically did a nice cruise and enjoyed the curves for what they were without being dumb.

Yeah there was a bad streak of bike riders and pedestrians getting hit/run over by trucks or other bikers. Never seen so many people start getting ticketed on a bicycle after those accidents.

Anyways back on topic. I would be up for any of the routes mentioned. I bet the routes down towards athens and that way would be more convienent/ central. But I just want to ride, It doens't matter where to for me.

There's always this one. It's rt 555. It starts in Zanesville and heads south. We could ride down it and back. The Start doesn't look too far from the Columbus meet up point.

http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=OH...=12&via=1&z=12

and here's the 536 route that I posted in that video:

528, 536, 555 all good. Ride all day and pair up share costs of hotel room if need be. Can always have a couple beers after dionner and ride some more before heading back home the next day.

Did a similar ride with 6 Busas when I had mine. Thrilling actually hair raising..plenty of fun. Wardie

I also plan on checking out western PA this summer if I find a good route close to here. Anyone know of any by the OH border?

No one has anything? I guess I'll look around on other forums to see since my goal next year is to do some touring out of state which means I may make the gsxr a little more comfortable, or just suck it up ha.

Brett, I'm in for some Western PA touring on the ninjette with you, as long as you're cool with Sat/Sun rides.

I don't know any routes though. Just remember, a lot of the scenic wooded PA gets really bad cell phone reception, so keep that in mind to be extra cautious.

id also be interested in maybe take a tour of PA to just let me know when you plan on going.

Im so ready for the OHIO ride but its a long time away it must be the weather keeping me from wanting to ride for now. Dont feel like taking all the winterized stuff off the bike and stuff just to freeze or get soaked bc if its nice its cold and if its warm its raining.

I'll find one over the winter but when we did our ride we were almost in PA. Route 7 runs parallel to the border, that was that little highway section we saw right before the rest stop. That only took us maybe an hour so it's definitely a doable day ride depending how far into PA we go.

I know how you feel, I've had my bike stored for almost 2 months and missed a lot of nice riding days, but time didn't allow me to ride much when the sun sets early. As for PA, I'll see what kind of route I can find for us to all have a meet up point since we have to go further south towards PA since you're in c-bus.

And my winter project is to make a bracket for a gps that way it's easier to follow and I have an outlet on the bike I can plug it into so we can go all day. I would have already done so but my gps was stolen recently so I have nothing to work with until I get another. There's also the Alleghany National Forest in NW PA which could be pretty cool.

Anyone gonna be riding this Saturday if the rain holds off? It's real tempting but I really don't want to de-winterize the bike this early and change insurance when I know it won't last. Come on spring!

I won't be, I already de-winterized and re-winterized once this season. It is tempting though, but that 60 degree weather won't last long.

Nah, i decided not to. I got the ninjette out for some pictures and some tinkering, but it stayed winterized and didn't get ridden.

I put like 80 wet miles on my road bike those 2 nice warm days though!

Hopefully spring comes early this year. I remember last year riding and one day it was high 50's and sunny and one day it was 30's and snow, absolutely sucked! I have been thinking of places to go this year but would like some input if anyone has any ideas. Hell, I've even thought about taking a long weekend and heading to the east coast taking all back roads (as much as possible) but I'm not sure if anyone here is interested in that. Pretty much just ride to the ocean and back, but I don't have any idea of how many miles but if I had to guess maybe 400 miles? Just random thoughts during the winter ha..

Think I could get away with driving a rwd car in the winter there? BRZ/FR-S is in the future would like to have it as my daily driver. That reminds guess today will have to be the last time I ride the 250 for awhile, Its gonna have to stay here till I find a way to get it over there.

Yeah most likely. The road crews are pretty good. We have a 2wd Sierra and it's fine with a little weight in the back and some mindful driving.

You might want to put some weight in the trunk and some winter tires on though.

We usually have 1-3 bad snow falls. You will be find, I have a celica and it does fine. Growing up I had a few RWD cars, its not an issue. You could rent a U-Haul to get the bike here.

Cool good to hear, thanks guys! I've really wanted that car (Even built one of those tamiya model kits) so I still wanted to get it wherever I ended up. Knowing I was moving to ohio I was like dang guess I'll have to get something with AWD. So that's reassuring.

I'm coming next week so I'm going to have to ship my car and bike and the rest of my stuff at a later date. Definitely planning to get a U-Haul to get it to my stuff to my new home (whenever I find that too). It's my first time moving out so this is gonna be an experience.

Good luck with the move. And rwd cars are fine with a good set of winter tires, I had several camaros in the NE Ohio winters and with good tires I never had an issue. I actually prefer rwd over fwd in the winter, but most people can't understand why. Anyway, welcome to Ohio (soon).

Thanks for the welcome, Will be getting a nice set of steelies and blizzacks whenever I get the car unless its warmed by then. I'm looking for apartments right now to move into. Hope I find some places with garages since I don't want to leave my bike out in the open.

Also if you're set on the BRZ/FRS you may be looking for awhile for what you want. I looked for one and there aren't any BRZ's around here and only a handful of FRS, but it may be different the further south you go. Good luck on that quest and if you want I'll keep an eye on up here whenever you get here. And usually it's warming up to the point where you don't need snow tires by late march, although these past few years have been fairly warm/dry.
