I didn't see any turn signals or brake lights on that van. But at the same time, that guy should not have tried to go around on the left side when there is clearly a left turn right there.

dude riding like an idiot, that is one thing to avoid passing in intersections or around driveways (if possible).
edit: brake lights on at an intersection, natural selection may have done us a favor with this type of idiot. |

Hey perfectly acceptable when you have to pit the first one in can be the first one out, where's his pit crew at, that's totally unacceptable? I mean how can you win a race if your pit crew isn't even in the pits, guess those tires ain't getting changed. lol

damn, he was lucky he was already in position to pass allowing him to more easily transition to avoid the car. That said, he shouldn't have been trying to pass in that situation in the first place since you can't see the activity in the other lane clearly disregarding the turnoff.

car stopping in the middle of the road with a left turn ahead - brake lights/turn signals or not, that's an obvious sign that the guy was about to turn left.
he wouldn't have needed to be lucky if he would've thought about what he was about to do for even a half second. if you can't spare a second to look forward and analyze what's happening, you're doing it wrong |

Don't ride like and idiot. And if one does ride like an idiot, then one ought not be recording if for posterity. (But we thank him/her for recording it anyway).

I thought the visordown article was a good read, but I don't agree with his assessment of the safety of his sister. If her driving skill is as bad as he suggests then I suspect luck has played a big role in her accident-free, status so far. If someone has poor control of their car/bike and something sudden and unexpected happens that puts them at risk, it's doubtful they will know what to do or have the ability to do it. The fate of the driver, any passengers, other road users and pedestrians will then rest firmly in the coarse hands of chance. I'd rather take my chances in a car with someone who knows how to control their vehicle safely. Good stuff motofool! |
