now. k&n, muzzy pipe, modified stock muffler and tail chop.

gsxr shock and sonic springs coming soon.

and only 804 miles.

Get a can on that thing. When I was testing my Muzzy for leaks, I started it with open headers for just a second. Sounded like sh*t because it was all tin-y and shallow sounding. The can sounds so much better and gives it some depth (conveniently, it's also quieter than my Two Brothers slip-ons were)

Anyhow, I love the paint scheme; it's the best one! Get some custom made side fairings on there, and raise the tail a little bit

You'll like what it does for the handling. I can't wait to see what you come up with when you finish this project

The tail might get raised by the GSXR shock, I dunno.
It lost the mount for the exhaust hanger but I'm sure the OP could still rig something up.

I'm pretty sure the GSXR shock is a tad shorter than the newgen shock. The newgen shock is a tad longer than the pregen shock. I'm not sure what that means for the comparison from GSXR shock to pregen shock though

When all else fails, I really really love my soupy's adjustable dogbones on my pregen. I got them shorter than the typical ones for raising the tail instead of lowering it. Really great quality parts, and really great service. I love how they make my bike fall into turns and give me adjust-ability between different tire combinations to keep it in that sweet spot that doesn't have the tail so high that it's unstable, but at the same time, turns on a dime.

the gsxr shock is a few mm's shorter than stock. but I have woodcraft clip-ons http://www.woodcraft-cfm.com/cgi-bin...tion&key=12-01. the front of the bike is dropped at least 2". I also increased the angle of the tail when i chopped the subframe.

I do have a can on it. Its a completely gutted stock muffler, perforated tube and packing in it with a custom tip.

I really need to check the valve adjustment and part throttle fueling. It stumbles bad taking off at a light.

Ah, so lowered front means you're still aggressive on turn in. Good

As for the mid-throttle fueling, trying raising your needles with SAE #4 washers (or if you can't find those, 3mm ID 6mm OD that are about .5mm thick work well also) That should richen up your mid-range.

I have #40 pliot jets, 5 washers and #112 mains. its fine mid and full throttle, just 1/16th to 1/8th throttle

Is it getting a soupy feeling right when you roll off of idle when you try to take off without using much throttle? At 1/16-1/8 throttle, you're in that area of the throttle where the needle taper, needle height, and idle mix are all still having a large effect on the fuel delivery.

A bogging feeling, like I'm pretty sure you're experiencing because I just re-jetted for the 2nd time and I had the same thing going on, is a symptom of rich jetting. I would try taking one washer off the needles; if that bog is still there after that, I would turn the mix screws in about 1/8 turn.

After taking the 5th washer off the needles, does the bike surge when at about 10k with barely enough throttle to keep a steady speed? If it does, put the 5th washer back on. If not, keep it off.

Anyhow, this is a great page to read for info on jetting.

You hit the nail on the head, TOO RICH. Much better now.

Took the rear wheel off today. I'm gonna install the gsxr shock, paint the swing arm and rear wheel. Will report back with pics.

Dave, just to make you a little jelly:

If you can get your hands on a used on, GET IT! totally worth it. The difference is noticeable and I really appreciate mine. Just make sure to get a swingarm stand and keep the center stand to attach when you need it.

That looks freakin' awesome! That Muzzy pipe looks just like a Kerker 2-into-1 exhaust. I can't make it out, but what are you using as an exhaust hanger now that you've gotten rid of your passenger pegs? I need to move up to something better than the zip-tie I'm using.

You've just made me realize what it is about pre-gens that I DON'T like... It's the tail being too long for the snubnose.

I painted the triple. I used a belt sander to level the entire top of the triple, which in effect gave it the brushed look.

That's exactly what I wanted to do with mine to make a different-style triple. What type of sand paper do I need to use? I plan to use SV650 clipons so can I also use this technique to take some room off below the triple so that I can mount my clipons slightly higher?

I was looking at pregen spacers intended for lowering and using those instead of sawing the original risers, but I like your results. I want to make the triple look more like the newgen with a keyhole surround, so I've got more work ahead of me.

I need to invest in a clamp... and a workbench to attach it to.

I would not suggest removing any material from the bottom of the triple.
I don't know what kind of sand paper was on the belt sander. It's my buddies bench mounted belt sander.

Is the spacing for the forks different between the pregen and the newgen? What about the stem? Might be better off starting with a newgen triple.
