150/60 Tire For 2011 Ninja (Newly Introduced Tires)

Greetings,

I'm a new member But I was reading the forum for a long time.

I own a 2011 make Ninja 250R (fuel injected). I want to replace my stock tires.

I'll keep the original size 110/70 for fronts but I want a bigger one for the rear 150/60.

I've read all the post about the bigger tire on the forum. But there are no information about the new tires. Mostly all are about Michelin pilot active and BT016.

First of all I won't use my bike on track. Only on road. But the roads in my country are so slippery. So I need a tire that holds the road as strong as possible to prevent a low-side.

I also don't want to force the limits of my rim (like BT003 and BT016 does).

Please suggest me the best tire possible for the front (since it will be in the original size there are many choices).

And best 150/60/17 tire for the rear. (may also be 150/70/17 if it's really better)

Models I have in mind are:
  • Bridgestone Battlax BT-090
  • Bridgestone Battlax BT-021
  • Pirelli Diablo Rosso II
  • Metzeler Sportec M5 Interect
  • Michelin Pilot Power

Bridgestone has information about the actual width and recommended rim sizes about their tires. Bu I couldn't find this information about the rest of the tires. Actual width of the tire shouldn't exceed 156mm. So if you know the actual widths of these tires please share them with me.

I'll really appreciate your suggestions for the best 110/70 front 150/60 rear combination

Best Regards,

I live in Norway, so I pretty much need good tires with the colder temperature and all wet weather here. I have been using Pirelli Diablo Rosso, and I really love them! So when the time comes and they are worn out, I will definitely get the new Rosso II's. These tires have gotten very nice results in tests too: Pirelli Diablo Rosso II tests

Thanks for the suggestion

But i also need to know the actual tire width of these models. I couldn't find any info about rossoII. If it's larger than 156mm i wouldn't buy it

How are BT090s? I'll probably go with that one because they are suggested for 3,5-4,5 inch rims

I will be putting a set of
Michelin Pilot Power 110/70/17 and 150/60/17. This winter

I have these on my other bikes and I really do like them. So I am going to stick with them

But it's up to you. You have a lot of good picks on your list

Michelins are a little bit narrow then the others like 151mm but i'll consider them too

Can anyone please share their experiences with the BT090s?

don't get to caught up in sizes or thickness...

I'm guessing your Turkish roads aren't the best and a full out sport tire may not be the best idea for everyday riding. You will likely be better off with a sport touring tire that will be better suited for the road conditions. Look at Pirelli Sport Demons or BT-045 in the 140/70/17 rear.

Okey I've found Sport Demons(150/70) and DiabloRossoII and MetzelerM5(150/60) Which one is better? I don't wanna go up to 70side.

RossoII looks so thin on the bike. People don't even notice the difference

Keep in mind, with a bigger tire on the rear, you will not be able to use the whole tire while leaning. Reason being is that the 250r rim is not wide. It was meant for the 130. The 150 tire would be pinched inward. I have a picture on the tire on my old 250r in my profile with a Michelin on.

I would recommend the Michelin Pilot, I have gone though many rain storms with that tire and it still felt great! I have Bridgestone's on my ZX6R, and I don't really like them all that much. That's just me though. I will defiantly be upgrading them come next year.

You will not get a much wider look unless you change the rims and maybe customize the swingarm. That goes for no matter what 150 you put on there. The rims are not ment to fit 150 tires at all, the only reason to go up to this size is that it's the smallest size most quality radial tires are made in. Rear tires smaller than 150 are usually diagonal, and thats not something you want to be riding on

So is it a good idea to go with the Michelin Pilot Powers? Do they fit on the stock wheels?

+1 for pirelli sport demons. I believe I'm still running 130 but they have so much more grip over the stock dunlop gt501's it's amazing. definitely increased my confidence while turning/cornering.

just my $0.02.
