heyo everyone, im about to install some HID's into my pre-gen, and was wondering if a how to would be wanted by other board members, as it takes longer (stop and take pictures, write notes etc....) if people think it would be helpfull ill be more then happy to write one up in a few days, as im noticing it not a strait drop in kit(nothing to bad)
if no one cares, it will save me some time :P -Levi |

WILL DO!
im currently messing with the bulb trying to get the best low beam cutoff(dont want to blind people and make them want you dead) while not comprmising the highbeems distance any. so far its being abit hard... it doesnt help that im using 55Watt balasts that are bright as hell so all the scatter is VERY bright lol. but so far ive had two improvements, one is having the light sit a little bit further back in the housing(a few mm), and the other is to slightly modfiy the scatter shield on the bulb, once i get it perfect ill post a how to with pictures and all that good stuff! |

oh anyone can post in there? awsome!!! ill most likely post in here first, as i have sub par grammer and spelling, so having some people look it over will be a good idea
im starting to think the low beam cut off problem might be a headlight issue, but one that should be easy to fix with some vynal... |

I would love to see this written up. I've been wanting to do this for quite a while but was very cautious about blinding people. Just because I'm curious, is the kit you're using a bi-Xenon kit or an HID low-beam with a halogen hi-beam?

heyo to awnser your question im using a single HID bulb that uses a solinode to move the whole light. i onlt went this route because the kit also includes a lifetimewarranty, and ive bought other kits from them before... (ill post a link ounce i know theyll work :P.
ive gotten all the pictures taken on how to install the kit, run wires etc etc... where to put the ballast and what not. however im not %100 on the scatter. ive found the main source of the scatter i think. and im currently blocking it out using black etrical tape on the headlight housing, i still need to take the bike out a day time ride(and park it next to oncoming traffic) to get an idea for the scatter as compared to other cars. but the E-tape cut most of it out! im %90 i know how todo the same thing to the bulb kit(so it doesnt look like ****) however it might reguire abit more effort, depending on how easy it is to get the material todo so... school started back up, and UGH, cant wait for some more free time -Levi |

High Intensty Discharge. instead of using a heated wire element that is in a non reactive gas(or a halgoen bulb) HID's pass an eltrical arc through a mix of gasses that "glow" (like xeon, hence some calling them Xeon bulbs) to produce light. however the HID's need a ballast, which takes the 12V of your car, and steps it up as to allow it to arc through the bulb.
the short... HID's produce more light that is also more like day time light( IE not yellow) using less elctricty then a halgoen bulb of course they are so much brighter they can blind people REALLY baddly at night if aimed wrong. a rough mesure. a 55W halogen bulb produes ~1000 lumens of light, and a 35W HID kit produces ~3000 lumens of light mmmmmm tasty a few cars that run these lights OEM, are escaldes, lexuses, and prysus (that i know of, there are more though) im sure theres better info on wiki, but that should give you enough to know why they are good -Levi |

Alrighty! soooo i got the kit installed awhile back, and ive gone on a few rides with it, so far no one has flashed there lights at me etc.... so YEAH!
the down side is that you need to mask the headlight housing to reduce some VERY blinding scatter, i used eltrical tape, you can also use car/sign vynal taht matchs your bike etc.... you will also need to be able to use wire stripers and a soildering iron, and have some spare wire on hand, also suggested is a way to drill a hole for a screw or screw in a self tapping screw. i will hopefully have a full write up with pictures and all that good stuff in the next 2-3 weeks! once finals are over -Levi |

Nice! I'm very excited to see your pics. If you can, write up the process after you get done with finals. I'm sure plenty of folks will be doing this!

http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=39467 its still pretty rough, but for those who just need some rough guidance iti should get you going! i plan on having it more detailed and the like for those he need a more step by step write up, but that should give you guys time for your HID's to show up |
