Tube on the bottom of the bike disconnected with oil on it... normal?? (images?)

Help out a fellow rider with his first motorcycle!

Is this normal? Should I be worried?

in that case, I'd say the grease is from chain lube being flung off as you ride.

I highly recommend this lube as it's a great lube plus it minimizes any type of chain lube fling.

clean what you have on there with a clean rag, then apply this stuff.

I use it on all my bikes with great results.

Probably just the chain lube. Does bring back thoughts of the case leaking there on the 09's?... where the fix was epoxy

Nate, try out the Teflon if you get a chance. It's cheaper ($5) and I feel like it works better. It dries quickly with less fling and the drivetrain feels a lot smoother after lubing. Unfortunately like many people here, I take Kelly's word on many things (which is great thing Kelly ), and now have a almost full bottle of Maxima left which I guess I'll use for cables.

Since my new bike is shaft drive, I still have a half can of Maxxima left. I use it on my bicycle chains now.

I used Chain Wax for years and was a convert until I tried the Dupont stuff about a year ago. I do have a hard time finding it sometimes and have a can of Chain Wax as a backup just in case I run out.

I don't recommend things lightly and when something works, I try to spread the word. The Dupont stuff is amazing. In the house, I lubed a pocket door tracks that had been squeaking and sticking for years. It slides so easily now I have to be careful that I don't end up slamming it shut by mistake.

See, you can teach an old dog new tricks.

I'll have to try it out. Thanks guys for the advice. I'm all about not having to clean up a mess after I use some lube.

Nate,

I agree that Chain Wax did reduce the amount of chain fling compared to the "regular" lubes to almost nothing, but would on occasion find little black spots on the rear fairing area from it. With the Dupont, that is a thing of the past.

Plus, I didn't like the strong odor from the Chain Wax while lubing the chain.

happy riding

Now if you can convince Ryan that the Dupont stuff is amazing, that would be awesome.

He didn't agree with me on using it, so I was left to fend for myself on cleaning/lubing my chain, which led to me dropping the rear stand with my bike on it on my foot /sigh. BTW you can find it at Lowes, it's in the same section as WD40 (at the Lowes I go to its by all the hand tools).
