Anyone else have these in their ignition key?

Does anyone here also have the park mode in the ignition key where you turn the key to the right and also lock the steering? What is the purpose of this?

It lets you park the bike while leaving the running lights on. I'm not sure why you'd want to do this for any significant amount of time, but you're able to.

This is why the taillight and turn signal wires run through the ignition switch. It allows just the lights to get power, while the rest of the bike stays off.

Some countries/cities require parking lights on vehicles at night.

Sounds like a good way to wear down your battery. I think I have that setting, but have never used it.

Hmmm, interesting. I've thought that I theoretically might want to leave my lights on in certain parking situations, but I've never actually been in one.

That's my first thought too. All of my running lights have been switched to LED so the draw would be much less (and the 500 has a bigger battery than the 250), but I'd still be wary. I know what happens when you forget to turn off a dome light, so I'm not sure I'd want to purposely leave all my running lights on.

I think the situation would be short-term parking at dinner in Paris, for example. Presumably once you're home, you don't need the parking lights to be on. (I have no idea if Paris is a city that requires this.)
