What parts are you referring to by Keihin?
Keihin makes automotive systems, air and fuel management systems, HVAC systems and electronic control systems.

Most companies that make, design, and market there own product usually label them "genuine". However that same company may contract or license another company(ies) to make the same product under similar production guidelines with slight design changes and production number limits. This would more likely be something labeled as an OEM equivalent.

Those jets may be made by several different companies, but do the same thing as one made by Keihin.

Genuine Keihin parts (or any other branded manufacturer parts) specify to their supplier the specs which the parts must be built in order for the manufacturer to put their name on it. You can be assured there is some degree of quality control if a manufacturer is putting their name/reputation/warranty on it.

OEM equivalent parts (not only with motorcycles, but with any parts supplier for any type of bike, car, washing machine, carburetors, etc.), build their parts to their specs and while it may be as good or better than genuine branded parts, sometimes (many times) they are not.

As in the case of jets, I now try to purchase only Genuine Keihin jets after I had some equivalent jets snap on me. The brass they used seemed a lot softer and the threading seems to hold up a bit better on the genuine parts. Not an issue if you change the jets only once and don't break them in that process, but I have quite a collection of jets from throughout the years and I'm even surprised when I look in my jetting case and find jets from years ago that I can use for a present day application. In that case, I'm glad to have genuine parts on hand.

Jets are basically pieces of brass with a precision sized hole drilled through them. My real issue with equivalent jets is, how much "quality control" went into drilling a precise sized hole that is the real value of the jet. For a few bucks more per jet, I try to stick with genuine when I can.

On the other hand, I have had a brand new NGK spark plug break on me when installing it due to weakness at the neck (no, I didn't over tighten them), so buying name brand doesn't always assure you a trouble free part.

last question, when you buy from jetsrus, do they ship a pair or you have to put your quantity to 2 to get 2 jet of the same size ?

They are for "each" and I more than gladly pay less for 2 of the OEM equivalent than the full price for 1 "genuine". Under normal conditions, there should be little to no issues. KKim must be monstrously strong to have broken a jet.

nope, it's over repeated installations of the same jet that problem/weakness occurred. Who knows what quality of brass was used for the jets?

BTW, jets are relatively easy to break.

The higher the number of the jet, the bigger the hole on the walls of the tube?

Does the number represent anything? Like the dimension of the hole?

What are the numbers of the stock pilot and main jets?

I'd go up or down in number from stock if I put on an aftermarket air filter (pods/k&n)?

The same thing can be accomplished with washers, tho will much less accuracy?

You can't simply allow more fuel to go in to the engine if you are still using too small of a main jet. The stock size is 105 on the pre-gen Ninja and I believe it's the same on the 2008+. The main jets go in sizes 108, 110, 112, 115, 118... Keihin Main Jets

I would also try buying the OEM Equivalent just because I know I might have to buy more than one pair just to find the right tuning.

On my bike I have a Muzzy full exhaust system and I just ordered a K&N Air Filter from AutoZone [R-0990]. A sweet deal for just $36!

I had 110's for my exhaust and now I'm going up to 112 for the air filter. Maybe even the 115.

Pregen stock main: 105

newgen stock main: 98

PS, I love my Muzzy and R-0990 combo. I just don't like how loud the R-0990 is under WOT.

They're about 3mm ID, about 6mm OD, and about 0.5mm thick. Just look for washers that are that size.
