Exclamation My Candy Plasma Blue '08 250-Revised!

If you came from KF you already that my bike has been a work in progress since I got it. For those of you who haven't had the pleasure of getting to know me or my story, the short version is that I had an accident, got a pay out from the insurance, and have since been on a mission to fix every single thing myself!! And so far, I have succeeded

And although it's still not up and running [ ], it is at least all in one piece. I wanted to wait to share, but I hate waiting

The first pic is better quality but it was not the finished product. The black lines on the side fairings were not where I wanted them, the cowl was not done, and the front fender was still all flat black.

The second pic is horrible iPhone pic quality, but everything is the way I want. The front fender is two toned leading to the two toned side fairings and then into the all flat black tail. I had him fill in the holes for the bumper on the cowl because I was really not a fan of the little cushion. I think it looks really slick without the bumper. Also back there is the flat back rear fender. I also blacked out almost all of the visible bolts [except for the swingarm one ].

Let me know what you guys think of the paint scheme. I plan on adding some stickers on the side fairings since the "ninja" is no longer there. I think it looks a little naked. I am debating whether I want to order some black "kawasaki" stickers for the tank to fit the theme. I'm not sure about that though. Part of me would like to through a little splash of Kawi green in there, but I haven't figured out how it would work best.

Oh hell yeah It's almost there! Have you been able to ride it a little yet?

Also where'd the frame sliders go eh?

CG!

I must give you credit for the patience and perseverance you have shown throughout this entire process. A lesser person would have given up on this a long time ago what with the insurance, parts and time hassle. Props to you!

Really like what you've done to the bike, but I'm not a fan of flat black... maybe it's an age thing. The overall scheme looks good, but would really like some better pics when you can manage it.

I think you've come a long way and hope to hear that it's up and running and that you're back on the road.... what's the hold up there?

No, i haven't had a chance to ride it. I'm going to check the oil pressure with a multimeter like you recommended. I am borrowing it from my friends dad this weekend, so hopefully that will give me some insight as to what is wrong.

I don't have the sliders on because I take the fairings off so often that it started to be a pain in the bum to have to remove them first before I can get the fairing off. Once it is 100%, I will put them back on.

Yes maybe it is an age thing. You're not old enough Kelly! After "2-Lane blacktop" nothing looks sweeter IMO than a primered black car...

... Fast forward 35 years and when I saw the 'graffiti' themed CBR600RR's I was blown away! I love the flat black look (Hell I was thinking about re-spraying my Firebird with flat-black even)

hell, I saw that movie when it was first released in the theaters. I didn't like primered cars back then and I still don't care for them.

It is looking so good hon! I'm happy for you that it's looking so nice! What is it that's keeping it from running? I must have missed that......

Congrats on a gorgeous bike sweetie! And thanks again for all the help you gave me to get mine up and running!

To Kelly....and I most definately appreciate your old man opinion! LOL!

To Noche...thanks for the nice words! The oil pressure constantly reads low. Maybe the oil pressure switch is faulty. I'm testing it this weekend. And if that's not it, I may give up and take it to the shop for them to figure it out!! I'm glad everything is good with your baby. I read you let your husband ride it. Now he's going to want one!! LOL!

Its lookin great! I like the paint scheme. It might look a little better with something to break up the black on the side fairings. Is the oil pressure problem the last thing to tackle?

The flat black against the plasma blue looks amazing! I dunno if its the angle of the shot or the line which you painted the flat black on...but the bike looks a lot more compact and not as bulky...

Checking oil pressure with a multi meter? Should you not check motor psi with a "psi/kpa gauge"

think she's looking to see if the oil pressure switch is making and breaking. We have no oil pressure gauge, only an idiot light.

OK,
Still think you should check for proper motor psi before fixing/looking into a lite?

I think she's trying to check if the switch is bad or if she has a broken wire. IIRC, she started having this problem after she installed some stuff and changed her oil. Prior to that, everything was fine. She has a little over a hundred miles on her bike. The oil pump could be bad, but what are the odds?

Well, in that case who needs a meter. Just remove the wire and see if the lite goes out....... Or ground the wire and see if it lites up. Depending on the problem of course

I love it. It looks nice and your bike will stand out from the hords of blue 250's out there . My bike was green, but I was in a bad accident and now will be blue to match the hords of blue bikes out there .

It looks good. I'm going to keep my bike looking as stock as possible, to differentiate it from the hordes of red 250s out there!

You have done a great job on that bike. I like the way you broke up the colours--makes the bike look like it is in motion. I think the black Kawasaki graphics on the tank should look sharp. On my bike the "Ninja" decal was applied on each side of the tail section. You couls put gloss black Ninja decals on your flat black tail section. It would be a subtile look

Buddy and I were going to swap parts around one day to see how the plasma blue and black looked... Good luck figuring out the last little bit. Soon enough all that work will pay off and you'll be out cruisin again.....

Very nice! How'd you remove your NINJA stickers as well as the glue residue? I did one tonight but gotta get rid of the residue, was planning on trying an eraser (heard it works) tomorrow. As for stickers I'm thinking of just adding 1 or 2 alpinestars ones on mine, MAYBE the "icon" crest - still deciding

Sick paint scheme. The stock Ninja's have nice paint, but it's great to see something different every once in a while. Keeps those green bikes guessing.

Sorry for the seemingly dark picture. I took it on Sunday and loaded it on my mac to adjust exposure and what not and on my monitor it looks almost perfectly exposed. I will try again though!

The two fairings were not originally CP blue, the left was black and the right was red. I bought them both used and slightly rashed. My paint guy then had the fun job of sanding and painting them. So the Ninja stickers came off in the sanding process I would assume. The blue on the fairings was custom matched to the tank since paint from color-rite was way to expensive.

Thank you. I agree. I would have more than happy with stock CP Blue (it was beautiful!!~) but I had to repaint the fairings anyway, so I figured why not do something a little different...
