Oil leak from the side

Hello Newgen tech,

I'm having an oil leak come from the side of the engine here:

I first noticed it when leaning the bike on the kickstand. The bike is normally on a rear stand.

Is this a sign of too much oil or a gasket or some other type of issue?

Other things I've noticed:

-Oil pukes out of the breather filter/recirculation (K&N 0990 attached) when running.

Related?

The photo shows the screw-in plug in the alternator covor. As I understand it, it's normal for some oil to be inside that cover. If it's seeping out, that cover is not tight, or something is causing it to not seal properly.

I don't have enough experience with the 250 breather system to offer much there, but from experience with other motorcycles, I can tell you that overfilling the engine or tipping the bike over can cause oil to be expelled. Excessive blowby can too.

like Jim said it might not be tight or the o ring for it to seal could be bad.

Okay so, it's not a huge deal. Common, even.

Cool. Thank you, gents.

It's normal for oil to be under the cover, but not common for it to be leaking out.
