wear your gear
a dude on my other forum posted this wreck. He admits being dumb and not wearing gear. He learned his lesson.

Haha that cracked me up. But damn. Just shows why you should wear safety gear. And especially full riding boots. He could have walked away from that if he had all the gear. |

Yup, thats what it look like when you go over the handlebars too....minewas a high side, knocked the wind out of me, and when I rolled over, saw the bike upside down flying over me.
Dumping a bike sucks....but shoot...you could be living a boring life driving a cage. |

So, he "doesn't need 911" and instead calls his mom. Wow. Yet his leg/ankle is busted.

That happened to me....I was on the road on my dirt bike (not street legal), racing my buddy who was riding behind me on my quad. We were doing about 60, and a deer jumped the guardrail. I t-boned it and split the mofo in half.
Long story short, I was wearing my helmet (not buckled) and my riding gloves. Helmet went flying off but after the first hit on the ground, so it still saved me. I had internal bleeding (intestines ripped from my stomach lining a bit), DESTROYED my right thumb (doctors were going to amputate it that night but were able to save it), broke right wrist, crushed three bones in left wrist, road rash through my right knee cap (and blew it apart), broke my nose, road rash all over my body. Jeans, hoodies, and skate shoes don't do sh!t in a crash. Chopper lifted over to Suburban Hospital, spent 4ish weeks in the hospital, and about half a year recovering. |

worst i had was a cat darting out of a bush to run across the street in two consecutive nights and different areas. wide open road in the middle of the night and it decides RIGHT THEN to do it. locked up and fishtailed a bit, some cursing ensued, but that was it.
trollcat is a troll.

Even wearing knee guards over my leathers I still get worried about injuries like that. Maybe I'll start wearing a full suit of medieval armor while I ride...

As soon as the weather warmed up enough to ride motorcycles we started having motorcycle vs. deer accidents here in eastern Washington and the north Idaho panhandle. Most of the incidents (that are bad enough to make the news) happen on our 2-lane state highways were riders normally go 50 to 70 mph.
I think we're up to 3 deaths and 4 seriously injured and it's only the start of June. |

boots would have protected that ankle a lot more than tennis shoes man!
bruises, unavoidable but an effed up ankle totally was. At least to that extent.

I'm not sure whether it's best to brake really hard for something like that or instead steer really hard. |

Did he apply any brakes at all? I think he let off the throttle a little but made no effort to swerve.

Ambulances have morphine. I'm sitting here with an $1800 ambulance bill that I have to pay out of pocket (I haven't gotten any settlement money yet and only half of what I normally make from disability). If you asked me, "Hey Sean, wouldn't you rather go in the car? Ambulance is going to be like $1800" I'd say "MY ****ING LEG IS BROKEN YOU DUMB ****ING SACK OF ****. IDGAF ABOUT MONEY! GO EAT A BAG OF DICKS AND GIVE ME HEROIN NOW!!!"
