Due to age, any tank is a rust risk. I almost bought brand-new never-used tank for $600 from shop that found it at back of shelf, score!!! When they brought it down, i opened box and it was hallelujah moment, it was so beautiful, birds sang and angels wept! I opened cap... and... entire inside was rusty!! With any tank you get, you'll want to restore it:

- remove rust with phosphoric acid rust remover. Do not use vinegar or muriatic/hydrochloric or oxalic acids. Those do not differentiate between rust and good metal and will eat hole through tank. Phosphoric acid will also leave a protective phosphate coating on surface.

- coat with plastic liner material such as Caswell, Kreme, POR-15 or Red-Kote. Some people have just used epoxy fibreglass resin diluted slightly.

After this is done, you've got good-as-new tank you won't have to worry about.

Pre-gen fuel tanks should be easily available in your local motorcycle salvage yards in FL.

There's several tanks on ebay right now. I'm sure a few should be acceptable level.
