DETAILS of Kawasaki's new Z1000 have emerged ahead of its official unveiling at the EICMA motorcycle show in Milan.

The updated litre naked shares exact specifications and presumbaly its engine, a 1043cc inline-four, with the new Z1000SX, making 142hp and 81.8lbft of torque. That's slightly up on the current Z1000's 138hp and 81.1ftlb.

But the new version is also slightly heavier, at least in non-ABS form, at 220kg compared to the old one's 218kg. The ABS version is unchanged, at 221kg.

Like the 2014-spec Z1000SX, the new Z1000 has Kawasaki's three-stage traction control system and two power modes. It also looks like it shares the Z1000SX's exhaust. Other changes to the model appear to be cosmetic.

It comes in black, orange/back and green/grey, and is due to be officially unveiled tomorrow.

It will make its UK debut at the Motorcycle Live show at Birmingham's NEC on November 23.
