Arms In Mirrors

Okay so, on my new gen 08 250, I CANNOT get my mirrors at a nice angle that my arms dont dominate. I have to like bend my arm in or move my head slightly to get a full view in the mirror, probably 1/2 arm 1/2 view in each mirror when cruising.

Anybody else have this issue? I may just be daft.

Yes that is a common problem. I see the same thing when I ride.
One solution is bar end mirrors. I hear they help a lot, but I can't decide if I like them or not. That's why I haven't gotten them yet.

It's pretty normal. I just tuck in my arm to see in the mirrors.

I gave up dealing with seeing only my arms and bout 650 mirrors. The stalks are a longer and fit into the mounts of the 250.

I used to just put my hand on my hip and it allowed me to see my blind spot in the space between my elbow and body.

reminds me of my old 250's mirrors, the most useless things ever. couldn't see anything out of them so I had to get bar end mirrors (they work like a charm once you get used to where to look)

on the 300 though the mirrors are godly perfect stock so no bar ends on that

I set mine so that my arm is visible on the inner part of the mirror. To see behind I shift my head slightly and move my elbow out. The view is between my elbow and my hip.

Works great. Try it.

When they are more important, while stopped in traffic, angle your bike in such a way that one mirror gives you a perfect view of cars approaching to you.
The bonus of this is that your bike is already pointed toward the side of the car stopped in front of you, which will become your escape route if needed.

Try it even if you are the first in line; you don't want to jump into crossing traffic.

This is also really good when turning right.

Now that I'm on the GSXR it's become critical. The riding position is such that I have a true blind spot.. cannot hold the bars (i.e., hold the clutch) and also turn my head enough to see 3/4 to the rear left. Checking for cars coming from my left requires either pulling up square to the road I'm turning onto, or angling the bike in such a way that I can "merge" into traffic after checking in the mirror.

I had a few awkward "take it on faith" moments early on before this became a habit.

I think my elbows look awesome so I don't consider this a problem.

Id rather split and not give any of that a chance of happening...
