3rd gen (88-07) front wheel fender on 2nd gen ninja (86-87)

By inspection, I am confident that the 86/87 and 88-07 ninjas use the same front forks and that the latter's front wheel fender looks much better on those forks and on the bike in general adding a fuller, bulkier appearance to the bike's lightweight front end (at least it would to the 86/87's).

I am thinking of purchasing an 88-07 front wheel fender when i rebuild the front forks on my '87 restoration, planning to repaint the fork lowers gloss black matching with the fairing's gloss black and tentatively the 88-07 front wheel fender bolted onto that in, you guessed it, gloss black. The goal being to make the front fender and forks seem like one unit and to get rid of a really bad touch up paint job on these fork lowers. This may sound tacky or too boring but the concept I have in my mind looks great and time will tell how that works out.

Reason for the fork rebuild being that these springs are incredibly... overly soft. I'm coming from experience on a mountain bike and that's about it but these springs seem rediculously soft. They have the proper sag but a tap on the front wheel brake at walking speeds sends the bike diving.

Does anyone have any comments on;

1. The fender fitting (possible issues with height, tire width difference, etc? Bolt patterns seem to be identical on the different bike's forks)

2. Where to find these parts for reasonable price in Canada? Ebay is full of them but besides the shipping issues, it would seem my dollars are less valuable than other people's dollars

Thanks for the help

There are very few people with 86 87 ninjas still around. Worth a shot. Sell it if it doesnt fit.
