WOW! That is some good luck right there. If he hit a larger deer I bet it might have been a much different story.

On a side note. I feel bad for that poor deer. Getting its leg cut off by a Gixxer.

It happened so fast I couldn't get a clear snapshot of the impact (mind you I was using the manual pause method ). This is was the best I could do:

I don't. Those things are like rats on stilts. They eat everything in your garden; tomatoes, basil, flowers, even some of the jalapenos and cayenne pepper plants have been mowed down. So annoying. And there's soooooooo freakin many of them. Driving at dawn or dusk is dangerous during their mating season.

And on top of that, the just glare at you from the back yard when you drive in an out of your garage like you're inconveniencing them

WOW. Deer in Ohio sound awful! I see how you see them as rats. It is different around where I live. In the city/suburbs. The only time I see deer is when I am mtn biking in the morning or near sunset. It is pretty cool to come up to a pack of them (if that what multiple deer are called?). Oh and I have seen a couple on the backroads. But it's a rare occasion.

You callin Bambi a rat?

They're all over the place. Very pretty animals, but they're basically moving obstacles that are dumb as dirt, weigh like 250 lbs, are able to jump a 4 foot fence from a standstill, and can run at least 25 mph (I only know this because one nearly hit me on a bicycle when we surprised each other and he bolted). The deer did start avoiding the garden a little bit when we started letting my dog do his business near it, but they still eat things. They'll come right up to the house and eat flowers.

In Solon (city near me) they allow hunters to come in for a few days each summer and cull the herds. Shooters are only on private property where the owner gives permission, (and has the space to safely discharge a rifle) and all kills are properly documented, cleaned, gutted, butchered, and the meat is donated to homeless shelters. They do this because of all the car accidents involving deer.

*edit*
Jono, for the record, I live in a very suburban area also. They're literally everywhere. Go on google images and look up Hudson, Ohio. You would never believe that we would have so many deer just by looking at the satellite picture of Hudson. The reason they're so out in the open is because we're so suburban. In rural areas of Ohio, they're just as bad, but at least they aren't sleeping in your back yard because they have woods.

I just looked on Google maps. You have a lot of shrubs and trees! Looks like a great place for deer to live! Haha.

On a side note: Seems like a nice area. I never realized how north Ohio was. I mean your pretty close to Canada.

I use my imagination. I know what real deer look like, and most don't have a bulging forehead and eyes the size of bowling balls.

Yeah it's a really nice little city thanks mom and dad

Well I mean Lake Erie is between us and the great white north, so I've only been there a couple times with my grandparents up in upstate NY

I can't believe that the deer didn't throw him off track more; I'm almost tempted to say that the reason the bike stayed up so well is because he was going as fast as he was, if that makes sense?

Pretty lucky. Had a buddy back in the 80's that hit a deer with his FJ1100. Demolished all the plastic, instrument panel, the works. Dang near cut the deer right in half, blood and guts baked all over the engine, bleck what a mess. Buddy was lucky, just a sprained ankle and some bruises. DAMN RATS!

I think that is probably one of the reasons why the bike stayed up. 350+lb bike + 150+lb rider traveling at 85mph > 120+lb deer traveling at 20mph.

I think it helped that he only clipped the deer instead of hitting the deer head on. The deer was almost already past, and was traveling across. It's not like he hit a still target completely dead-center and straight on.

LOL. True! One of my guy friends once randomly broke the silence in a room we were in by saying "wouldn't you be totally freaked out if you ever saw Lara Croft... I mean... think about her body proportions and her face: she's a freak."

the head and neck, didnt have enough mass to flip him over.

if he had hit the body directly it would be bad news

I know they said it a lot in the video, Dude was lucky, I think about that every time I ride to work in the morning.

Though the SUV that swerved into my lane on my way home from work the other day to avoid a squirrel of something in the road would've done me just as well....

That's insane. I mean, I'd probably still be shitting my pants afterwards and wouldn't be able to ride until I calmed down. But he keeps the bike on both wheels the entire time and it's hardly taken any damage. Damn.
