Gears not shifting

Greeting,

First off I have a 2006 Kawasaki Ninja 250r. I recently just changed my clutch and brake levers because the other ones were bent from when I previously went down. Before I changed my clutch lever everything was running fine. After though, the gears don't shift anymore. 1st and neutral are fine, but when I try to shift up to second the shifter doesn't go up it stops at neutral. If it does shift up its because when I'm riding I need to play around with the clutch lever at different positions. And it is the same with going to 3rd gear. When I shift down its the same problem. What could be the problem? This is a project bike for me to get used to do my own maintenance so I really don't want to spend that much to take it to the shop.

Welcome to Ninjette.org, Andrew !!!

The problem is not in the transmission, but in the last thing that you touched: the controls for the clutch.

The lever coming up from the top of the clutch cover is not being deflected an angle big enough to fully disengage the clutch.

Only you, being there and knowing what you changed, can find out how to make it work.

I use Mobil 1 synthetic 10-40w motorcycle oil. I don't know if that could be the problem since I rode it that day and it was working fine and then I change the lever that same day and then that is when the problem occurred. I didn't make any other adjustments. I just changed the levers on the handle bars.
