Yea it's pregen, it's a 2004! I poked it up for $1750 with 2048 miles on it. It well kept by a doc. He had it in storage since 2006 and recently just had a complete tube up on it. The only mod I have done to it is change the gearing to 15th tooth sprocket and I gotta say what a huge difference it makes. Also I bought this back in mid nov lol

wow I need to prove read my post lol
its a dark blue. it didn't have any flames on it and a lot of pregens I see had flames. but over all its really forgiving and great learning bike for someone with no experience. the day I bought this bike was the first day I have ever been on one.

There's a class that's put on by the chp (not sure if it's the same as MSF)
But it's about 40 mins away.

Something to keep in mind is that the tires are not going to perform nearly as well as they did when new. (Some would also say that the stock tires on the pre-gens didn't perform particularly well even when they were new)

After 10 years, the rubber has lost quite a bit of its elasticity and therefore grip. It wouldn't be a terrible idea to think about replacing them with some new tires when you have a chance. It's a ~$200 - $250 expense for a whole bunch of peace of mind, plus more fun and capability on the same bike.

We had the exact same bike in that color scheme in 2004; it was our first ninjette.

My Pre Gen had 3,000 mi. and totally stock when I bought it. Try to replace those tires as soon as possible. For one as Alex pointed out they are not structurally sound after 10 years.
Two: They are not confidence inspiring at all. Mid turn they will feel vague and want to right the bike up or turn in too much on you. I refraimed from pushing it in corners til I bought new tires. As with many others here I went with Pirelli Sport Demon Scooter tires. I got both on Amazon through Motorcycle Superstore for around $135. I've put 4k mi. On them and they are awesome.

thanks guys for the info on the tires. im slowly gaining more confidence in the turns and sometimes the front seems to feel as if it was sliding out, not sure if its from an error im making while in the turn or what. but I will deff be replacing those tires soon.

Also when letting out the clutch it seems to release with barley any pull on the clutch lever. is this normal? the only upgrade I have done is a 15th sprocket. tia!

That feeling of sliding out is normal for those tires.

I run my clutch lever with a little slack about the width of a nickle or more. It would be a good Idea to lube your cable with Cable Lube, Cable Lube has a kit that has the lube and the applicator tool that helps force it down the cable sheath.

My Clutch cable snapped at about 10k miles so I went with a Motion Pro replacement.

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw the picture (looks good and looks like top gun). I just looked it up and a trivia site says Maverick was riding a Ninja 900, the fastest production bike at the time (115hp with a top speed of 151mph). Sure does look a lot like that 250 though!
