I bought 92 Ninja 250 and am having trouble figuring out how to get he old license plate off....

I feel like an idiot but I cant figure out how to get the license plate light disconnected, can anyone instruct me on how to do this? I have been searching online and have found nothing.

Don't feel like an idiot (unless you are an idiot). I haven't had the problem but I think dynomite would work, hack saw the entire rear section, tie a chain to it and then to your pickup and rip it off, or you could use search;

I saw that thread already actually but that is just some options for new lights. The one on my bike works I just don't know how to get it off.

Its a light sort of like this just screwed into the top left of the license plate.

Was able to figure it out, and got the license plate okay

Now I just have to figure out how to fix the horn and get it inspected and I should be good to go. Any tips on what could cause the horn not to sound?

Ok as far as the horn not sounding... EAsy to track down basically the issue could be one of four things
1. Horn inop
2. Fuse blown
3. Bad switch
4. Bad wiring
First check fuse to ensure its good... Then work your way back from the horn you will need a test light or multimeter .. Key on lights on test for voltage at horn when you push horn button and work from there

Hmm thanks, I have a multimeter so I can test the wiring.

Which fuse would be for the horn? I have a 92 bike which I think has an older fuse box than most. It looks like this (with 4 10 amp fuses in there plus the two spares the one in the picture is missing one fuse)

I am not sure which would be for the horn or if there even is one? The fuses are listed as Front, Back (headlights I assume), ATT and the last one was fan I believe I will have to double check that.

Yeah I found that but mine has a different type of fuse box than that unfortunately.

Then let the bike idle with everything on. Then start pulling one fuse at a time to see what turns off with each fuse. Should be easy enough. You just might annoy your neighbors from testing the horn

Not sure as to which fuse does what maybe check out the above link to help ya there.. But even easier make sure all sockets have a fuse in them then check for continuity on each fuse with your meter . If there all good then you can eliminate the possibility of a bad fuse

Yeah I checked all the fuses in the box so unless the horn fuse is somewhere else that is not the problem.

Tomorrow I will test the wires with a multi meter. If I am getting a current when I press the button does that just mean the horn is probably bad?

Looks like I need a new battery as well now. Can anyone recommend a good one I can buy locally for a reasonable price? How much should I be expecting to spend on a new battery?

Sorry for all the questions but I am still having trouble with the horn, I tested it with a multimeter but I am not sure if I am doing it right.

I set it to 20Vdc and grounded one end to the foot rest and put the other end on positive end of the horn (I just rested it against the metal piece the wire is attached to). I got a reading of 11.5V on the meter without pushing the button and when I pressed it nothing happened. Does that sound correct?

If so I am guessing this means I need to try the switch next?
