Bike just up and quit

Has been running great but parked it after tooling around the neighborhood with it and came out about two hours later to have it not even make a sound. No lights, no horn nothing. I may have left the key on the on position but not sure. Did pop the seat to notice that one of the battery cables isn't too tight so my guess is that my battery is drained. I tired to tighten it but I'm thinking it's stripped so guess I need to find some more screws for it. I have a charger on it as of two hours ago and the gauge lights come on but not the headlight. Hoping after it sits overnight that all will be ok. Any suggestions on replacement screws? I'm sure Lowe's or HD prolly have em.

headlight doesn't come on until the bike is started and running.

take the good screw with you when you go shopping for a replacement. my guess is that it will be a metric screw.

how old is the battery you have now?

Go to autozone for the battery screw.

Battery looks fairly new. Was in the bike when I got it but guess it could be going out. Oh duh, forgot about the headlight not being on till it's started. I'll hit autozone in the a.m.

your problem is most likely related to the battery screw not being tight. they seem to have a tendency to work loose.

it's really hard on a battery when they are run till they die. recharging may bring yours back to life, but keep a close eye on it till you gain some confidence in it's reliability.

I bought a new battery from Oreilly Auto Parts today for $59.99... It has to charge overnight before it's ready... I didn't want to ride on a battery that has already let me down once...

I charged it over night and it fired right up. I'm thinking the screw not being all the way tightened and possibly me leaving the key in the on position prolly killed it. All better now. Thanks everyone.
