Custom swing arm
I am looking at extending my rear swing arm about 6 inch. I want to make a better rear fairing for land speed racing. I don't want a wider tire. I run 120 mm rear tire.
I want an aluminum unit .Anyone know of a factory swing arm ,say from an old 600 something that can be easily modified. I can have a custom made one for 1000 dollars but I don't have that kind of money. |

I'm not aware of any 250R specific parts, but perhaps you could adapt, say, a ZX6R extender... something like one of these:

Not sure about extended.....I'm doing a swing arm mod right now so I can fit up to a 180 rear tire (I'm gonna go 170) When I took the parts to the welder/machinist, who also happens to be a motorcycle mechanic, he said that he could extend it for me while he was widening it but I declined as I am not going for the fastest 250 like you eric! He is doing work on the stock swing arm for me....I'm sure if you found the right guy he could extend the stock one as well......but aluminum.....i'm not sure about where to find one of those.

I can get an aftermarket aluminum arm for you cheaper.

How cheap? Single sided will not be long enough. I got a price of 1000 dollars and 1300 with powder coat.

I thought extending it was to keep the front wheel down on the drag strip. Clearly, that isn't why you need it. What else does extending it achieve?

Sounds like it will allow him to make the bike more streamlined. The extended arm itself won't do anything on its own for top speed, but what he can build around it very well may.
