If it doesnt fit right, return it and get a suomy!

I switched from a scorpion 500 as well and Absolutely love my suomy.

The quality and fit to my head is the best i've had yet.

YES. If you have the right size the fit is incredible, for my head shape at least. Although having a drop down sunvisor would be nice.

i had a scorpion exo1000 and an hjc cl-16 before i got my shoei rf1100... its a night and day difference. the scorpion and hjc felt cheap, poorly made, loud, heavy, smelled funny (scorpion uses "chocolate" scented glue but it smells like really cheap chocolate)... venting is about the same. all of them have removable pads which make washing easy. my shoei has been the most comfortable helmet i've owned so far.

I thought maybe it was just my helmet or the box it was packed in but that smell gave me headaches and I noticed the extra weight compared to my Shoei. I tried on the RF-1100 at my local Cycle Gear and knew the fit was perfect for my head.

I do keep my EXO-1000 for a spare helmet, though.

The Scorpion are great helment

EXO 500 one of the best $ 250 helmets

EXO 1000 one of the best $ 350 helmets

Shoei rf1100 good to average $ 500 helmet

For the money Scorpion are excellent and for twice the money the Shoei better be good. You can not compare them side by side against each other.

I also traded in my Scorpion for an RF1100 and it is like night and day. The Scorpion is meant for a different head shape than I have which I found out after I wore it for a week and I started getting serious headaches. The Shoei is a million times more comfortable

What part is false?

Are Shoei helmets crap?

What is true is that the scorpion is a great helmet. The rest is false. To start the prices are false. Try a range. The Shoei can be had for less than $500. The whole "one of the best" / "good to average" general quality labeling is ridiculous as the "measure" is non quantifiable and highly untestable. You can indeed compare them side by side if you pick more realistic measures that can actually be compared.

Here are some examples:
-fit to shape of intended rider's head
-weight
-noise transmission
-degrees of vision vertical/horizontal
-existance of a sun visor
-existance of graphics
-price (range)

I paid 350 for my shoei rf1100 w/graphics. I guess that would make it better than a exo 1000 at $350, (at least for my head shape) It weighs less and transmits less (wind) noise. I see quite a lot, but there is no sun visor.

@jman511115, congratulations on your purchase, I am sure it works for you.

went from hjc to bell to shoei.

i could easily tell the difference in quality, the shoei had less wind noise, and my neck felt better after every ride.

the shoei is well worth the $400 price tag to me.

the only other helmet i would want to try is an XR1-R.

The EXO-1000 is the heaviest helmet out there in the Scorpion lineup. Its more of a sport-touring helmet.

My Scoripion EXO-700 is on par with my Shoei RF1000 I had.

My Scorpion EXO-700 will probably be my track helmet for a short time since the Shoei X-11 I had got pretty trashed from my last crash.

Price are full retail that is how you compare not on sale or discounted prices

i.e. the Scorpion exo 1000 is now sub $ 100 which makes it the best under $ 100 helmet

Any helmet that has been in inventory over two years should sell for $ 100 as there is only 1 season left it it.

Also a perfect fitting EXO 1000 is a far better helmet that a Shoei that does not fit..

We can argue all day about this.

Of all the major name brands buy what fits in your price range but do not cheap out.
