Yeah rides really well. He does a lot of track days. He takes it easy on the streets. Plus it's his first time up GMR.

Eh. It's just a bike. Anyone with $72K to dump on it is as deserving/worthy as the rest of us schlubs. Although since I don't have an extra $72K lying around, I comfort myself with the fact that a japanese literbike + $10K in mods will clobber a stock desmo in every performance category except rarity.

As rare as they are, they do show up pretty frequently at Alice's. This pair of Ducs are owned by the same guy, he lets friends take out the Desmosedici while he slums it on the 999s.

If it was a rear shot I could probably find more differences.

lol this thread is just asking for someone to mod up a 250 to look like a desmo... anyone up for the challenge?

I can't because the SE Green that I should have coming in will already be better and faster

We had a racer in Upstate New York put a 500cc Triumph engine into a Ducati Diana--that was 45 years ago. He installed a Metisse Fork and fabricated his own fairing (This guy was a Triumph/Ducati dealer) My recollection is that he terrorized the road racing circuit for quite a time. The bike was frightfully fast. I always liked the Ducati Diana.

In the latest Motorcyclist magazine, they took a 1098R (the $40K WSBK replica from last year), and a Desmosedici (the $70K-ish bike from this thread) to a track to compare them. One of the testers binned the Desmo. But as the article states, he's probably one of the only guys who could get away with it.
