need more on-bike storage!

So I've discovered that the storage under the passenger seat is pretty useless (at least compared to the CBR125 we had).
So what is everyone doing?
I don't like backpacks as I find them to restricting in movement.

Hi Mike -

Check out this wiki article about some decent soft luggage that people have found useful. Some folks have bolted on some hard luggage as well.

Huge tank bag, and you can bungee down a little bit of gear on the rear. I have a tail bag, but the rear of this bike (new gen) doesn't lend itself very well to mounting it securely. I usually leave it at home.

I have no problems securing my tail bag, but it's not very big either. About the size big enough to hold a helmet with some side pockets on the outside.

I have an expandable Oxford Sports tailpack - I secure the velcro straps under the rear seat and then attach the bungees to each other under the tail and have no problems with it. It unzips from the base and turns into a rucksack for carrying off the bike too

I recently picked up the Cortech Super 14 Liter Magnetic Tank Bag. It fits just about perfect on the bike for me, and has a decent amount of storage space.

In preparation for a camping trip I'll be taking in a few weeks, I picked up a Bags-Connection Cargobag (link). I'll make sure to post pictures and a quick review when I receive it (if people are interested).

The cortech sportbag isn't too bad. I use extra bungees on it though when I use it. With only the stock bungees it was always shifting forward when I went over bumps and railroads tracks, etc. Not super secure though.

I also have a small tankbag. I got a 11 liter one similar to this http://www.newenoughhp.com/luggage/t..._tank_bag.html but it costs 12.50 on closeout (I wouldn't pay 50 bucks for it).

You can fit a water bottle in it, and cell phone/wallet, along with thin sweatshirt, ipod, etc.

backpack, the best, most comfy ever and you can fit tons of stuff in there, got mine free when I bought my KTM SX450. Straps are best stays in place and when loaded kind of sits on passenger seat so it is really not noticable.

Secures very easily and stably (one strap on each passenger peg, and then one strap that I usually cross under the tail to the opposite cargo hook). Once it's there I tend to forget it's there - weight doesn't shift at all.

I commute with it - usually has a laptop and my 9x12 leather billfold/portfolio thing, my shoes, my lunch and a coffee mug with tons of space left over to drop off dry cleaning and such. Un-expanded, I can put my helmet in it and I've never actually expanded it.

I've also got a pair of their saddlebags, but haven't used them yet.

I really like that Cortech bag. Also the one Royal Distributing has.
The problem with each of these is they attach with bungee straps and not the velco strips that wrap under the (locked) seat.
Therefore wouldn't they be really easy to steal?

The saddle bags have a velcro strap that I have under the seat... the sport bag has buckles that attach it to the saddle bags...

I have a fast pack that I switch out with my seat cowl depending on what I'm doing. The fast pack is usually enough storage to carry whatever I need and its pretty stealth when not in use. Here's a link with some info:
